I Fell for the Man Who Ruined Me, Then He Forgot He Ever Loved Me Back novel Chapter 233

Only when her words faded did Jorrod lean back slightly in his chair, lazily pulling open a drawer. He picked something up and tossed it right at her palm.

It sailed through the air in an arc. Sienna barely caught it, frowning deeply. "Watch it! What if you broke—"

She snapped her mouth shut, biting down hard on her lower lip. Her brows knit tightly together as she stared with profound confusion at the item in her hand...

A watch?

"Excuse me?" Sienna held it up, glaring at him. "What is this?"

Jorrod gave it a passing glance, stating flatly, "A watch."

"Do you think I don't know it's a watch?" Sienna was so angry she almost laughed. "Is that what I was asking? I'm asking what you just gave me!"

Jorrod remained as calm as a placid lake, even patiently answering her question. "A Patek Philippe."

"I wasn't asking for the brand either!" Sienna was practically ready to stomp her feet. Realizing communication was useless, she ground out through gritted teeth, "Jorrod, you were supposed to give me my phone. I want my phone. My. Phone!"

"Yes," Jorrod agreed. "A watch, in exchange for your phone."

Sienna slammed the watch down onto the desk. "Jorrod, you went back on your word!"

She hadn't held back, and the metal object hit the wood with a heavy thud. Jorrod casually glanced at it, closed the document on his screen, and leaned further back in his chair.

"I wouldn't say I went back on my word." He tilted his chin up slightly, his gaze drifting over his monitor to settle on her. "But you were right about one thing. Once something is given away, there's no reason to take it back. What happened with your friend was my mistake. Please pass along my sincere apologies to him."

What a sincere apology.

He just wanted to embezzle her phone and refuse to give it back!

Sienna ground her back teeth. "What am I supposed to do with this piece of junk? It's a men's watch! Can I even wear it?!"

She finally understood—this man's shamelessness knew absolutely no bounds.

He just furrowed his brow, looking like the epitome of understanding. "True, your phone is a bit small for me as well, but it's the thought that counts. I can make do with it."

Sienna took a deep breath, fighting to maintain her composure. "Fine... I recorded what you said back there. Don't tell me you're going to deny it?"

Jorrod showed zero emotion, offering a breezy, "Let's hear it."

Sienna played the recording for him.

"Once the business trip is over, I promise the item will be returned to its rightful owner."

Listening to it, the corner of her mouth twitched, and she let out a dry laugh.
