I Fell for the Man Who Ruined Me, Then He Forgot He Ever Loved Me Back novel Chapter 24

He just stared at her like that.

Without making a sound, or perhaps too afraid to make a sound, terrified of annoying her.

Sienna felt the pressure of that almost dependent gaze, instinctively avoiding it and withdrawing her eyes as if fleeing a crime scene.

She was absolutely sure that she hated him. Taking him in for one night was simply because she couldn't leave him to die, but that didn't mean she had the boundless kindness to house him indefinitely just to wait for a potential reward when his memory returned.

What if he stayed stupid forever? Or what if he repaid her kindness with malice and bit her instead? In Sienna's mind, Jorrod was a snake—a venomous, emotionless snake that bit people.

Elara asked, "And how are you going to contact Jorrod's family? Do you even have a way to?"

Sienna crossed her arms and thought for a moment. "I can just call the cops! They can go pick him up at the police station, right?"

Elara disagreed. "If you send him to the police station, it will be front-page news the same day. The big boss of Stellaris Corp, the heir the Vaughn family spent years grooming, has gone stupid. Do you think the Vaughn family wants to see headlines like that dominating the charts? Imagine the massive stock market crash that would cause. They'd definitely hunt you down to vent their anger over their losses."

As if awakened by those words, Sienna suddenly pulled out her phone and searched for 'Jorrod Vaughn'.

Logically, since he hadn't returned home all night, the Vaughn Group should be frantically searching for him.

But whether it was the latest or trending feeds, there was absolutely zero news about him.

It made sense. Even ignoring the stock price for a moment, if the CEO of Stellaris Corp lost his ability to manage due to a car accident, the executive board would devolve into utter chaos.

Sienna was just about to suggest dropping him off at his company, but she realized that right now, Jorrod was a crippled leopard. Those executives in sheep's clothing would be so thrilled to see him in this state that they'd shed their disguises and devour him alive.

Sienna was so stressed her head pounded, pacing endlessly back and forth in front of the bed.

She couldn't wrap her head around it, frowning deeply. "So how long do I have to wait? I still have to go to work. I can't just act like his wife like some actress on a movie set."

Besides, even without the incident from a few days ago, she truly had a bad impression of him.
