Sienna didn't get an answer.
The man took a step forward, grabbing her waist and backing her up against the dining table. He pressed his body against hers, one hand supporting her back and the other cradling the back of her neck as he leaned down to kiss her.
His lips covered hers, softer than they had ever been.
He kissed her gently, sucking lightly, as if terrified she would shatter if he used even an ounce of force.
Honestly, Sienna didn't really like it this way.
It was too gentle, too restrained. Too careful.
It felt too chaste.
Even when Jorrod had amnesia, he wasn't like this...
It left her heart suspended in midair, fluttering helplessly as if someone were tickling it with a feather. It felt empty and maddeningly ungrounded.
Sienna poked him in the ribs.
Jorrod broke the kiss for a second. He opened his eyes, his dark gaze slightly hazy, and let out a soft, questioning, "Hmm?"
She decided to just be blunt. "I don't like it like this."
Jorrod lowered his head slightly, his hand sliding from her neck to cup her cheek. His thumb brushed over her swollen, kissed-red lips. His voice was thick and gravelly. "You don't like what?"
Since he had completely switched up his kissing style, there was no way he didn't know exactly what she meant. He was definitely playing dumb on purpose.
Too embarrassed to say it out loud, she turned her head away.
All Jorrod could see was the elegant curve of her neck and her profile turning bright red all the way to the tips of her ears. The blush spread like pink ink bleeding onto white parchment, slowly cascading down to her collarbones.
His Adam's apple bobbed before he pressed a kiss to the side of her neck.
His deep voice vibrated right against her skin. "Why aren't you saying anything? Are you going to make me guess?"
"Which way do you like it?" he repeated, his voice dropping an octave. "Or... do you prefer how we did it in the car the other night?"
Sienna's face practically caught fire.
Kissing was one thing.
But her heart couldn't handle that level of highly intense, explicit intimacy just yet.
"I don't want to!"
Jorrod gently pinched her chin, turning her face back toward him.
He tilted her head up, needing to see his reflection in her eyes before he was satisfied.
