Mindy Monroe was a true Admin Department insider.
Her knowledge of the Design Department's inner workings was entirely based on hearsay, and as for the details, she could only shake her head to show she was clueless.
But when it came to design overhauls, there were really only a few reasons for throwing everything out.
It usually boiled down to the same old stories.
"Maybe they just didn't meet Mr. Vaughn's expectations. He is a strict, demanding perfectionist—a literal nightmare to work for. You have to be on your A-game every single second under his watch."
"He's not like the rest of us. He built Stellaris from the ground up, so he cares about it more than anything. If the company starts going downhill, he'll be dragged back by the Vaughn family to inherit their multi-billion dollar empire."
Sienna Quinn was speechless. That sounded like a massive luxury problem.
"He's cold, indifferent to women, and completely ruthless. I honestly don't know what else is inside Mr. Vaughn's head besides Stellaris."
Sienna remained silent. What else could he fit? *Darling, darling, darling.* If he was so obsessed with his little pet name for her, he might as well change his name from Jorrod Vaughn to The Porcelain Prince.
Mindy suddenly leaned in close, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "A while back, Assistant Jenkins made a mistake at work. He's a senior executive, but Mr. Vaughn tore into him during a meeting without an ounce of mercy. He was sent home to reflect on his actions for a long time."
Sienna gave a dry, dismissive smile.
Calling it 'strict and demanding' was a compliment.
In layman's terms, he was an insufferable control freak.
"But don't worry, Mr. Vaughn doesn't interact with us directly. Plus, he's barely ever in the office, so we never run into him. In fact, he just went overseas recently. He's far, far away from us."
"Overseas?"
"Yeah, he's on a business trip to Paris."
Sienna's mouth twitched, the corner of her eye spasming slightly.
This was the first time she realized her apartment complex was called 'Paris'.
The employee cafeteria at Stellaris was a standalone eight-story building within the corporate campus, boasting a spacious and brightly lit dining hall. Mindy took Sienna up to the second floor, her usual spot.
Sienna didn't have much of an appetite.
She simply copied Mindy and ordered the same combo meal.
The cafeteria was reasonably crowded. At a table diagonally across from them, four young, beautiful women were sitting around a table packed with food. Sienna glanced over and found them vaguely familiar, soon remembering they were models Stellaris contracted for photoshoots.
Sienna lost her appetite entirely.
She set her fork down on the table, her mind racing.
Silas Lester had no reason to lie to her, only to bring her into Stellaris to witness his lie firsthand.
Just the thought of Liam Carter made her furious, so she aggressively shoved him out of her mind.
They had gone their separate ways. To treat him as a total stranger was the absolute maximum amount of dignity she could afford their parents.

On the sixth floor.
A group of women from the Marketing Department were gathered around a table, picking at colorful salads.
"We got a new hire today. A girl."
"Is that supposed to be surprising? We get new hires every day. Also, I'm a girl."
