Sienna Quinn discovered Jorrod Vaughn's secret.
Everything came to an abrupt halt.
Their eyes met, both of them completely stunned.
It was as if a roaring fire had suddenly been doused with a bucket of freezing water, instantly sobering Sienna from her buzz.
"Is it your first time?"
Jorrod frowned, his lust-filled, predatory gaze clashing with a sheer, uncomprehending innocence.
A thoroughly awkward silence fell between them before Sienna finally let her gaze drop to the man's lean, muscular physique. The sharp, rugged lines of his broad shoulders and the tight, defined ridges of his abs were undeniably a feast for the eyes, but...
She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and let her exasperation fade soundlessly into the quiet air.
Jorrod Vaughn.
The future heir to the Vaughn Group.
A man who commanded the business world but left no trace in the realm of romance—excessively self-disciplined, aloof, abstinent, and utterly untouchable.
No wonder he was untouched...
Tell her! How was anyone supposed to touch this? How could they?
Where was the dignity of the Vaughn family?
Where was his pride as a man?
Where was the stamina?!
With a tangled mess of emotions warring inside her, she felt she ought to pat the man's head and comfort him.
"It's fine, one..."
One second was still impressive.
I'm sorry, but she just couldn't say it.
For that single second, she had endured a suffocating wave of pain. What did the few seconds of her tolerance even matter? Did his decent size make up for it?
"You definitely got your memory back just now. This is pure revenge."
Sienna sighed, pushed him away, and turned to lie on her side.
"I didn't..."
"Enough. I'm too tired. Go clean up in the bathroom and sleep in your own room."
"Then let me carry you."
"No need. I can manage."
The bedside lamp cast a dim, warm glow.
Jorrod pressed his lips into a thin line, staring at the back of her head. Her long hair was a messy cascade, exposing a luminous, flawless neck that was subtly marked with intimate red patches.
Sienna had a hidden habit when it came to sleeping.
It was something developed in her childhood.
Back then, when she slept with her mother, she was afraid of the dark and always buried her face in her mother's warm embrace to feel secure.
Although she had outgrown that habit, she still needed to sleep facing her left side to feel truly comfortable and grounded.
Right now, her posture was the exact opposite.
But she didn't want to turn around, because that would mean facing Jorrod directly.
As for when the man actually came back to bed.
Sienna wasn't sure.
She only knew that from behind the slightly ajar bedroom door, the shower had been running for a very long time.
She stayed huddled beneath the blanket the man had meticulously tucked around her.
When the covers were lifted and a gust of cool air swept in, she opened her eyes.
Her bare back broke out in a smattering of goosebumps, but before they could fade, the blanket draped over her once more. Close by, it felt as if a furnace had been set down, radiating a searing heat against the entire length of her spine.
Her heart began to race.
She felt Jorrod press a soft, warm kiss against her shoulder, and a helpless shiver ran down her spine.
