They were all adults.
Mindy only stayed frozen for a few seconds.
She quickly snapped out of it and sat back down at her desk.
But her heart was far from calm. Even the urgent work assigned by her manager was momentarily pushed aside as the flames of gossip crackled and roared inside her.
She had noticed earlier that Sienna looked unusually exhausted today, yet carried an indescribable, alluring magnetism. She had initially blamed it on the new hairstyle.
Janice York was right—couples fought at the head of the bed and made up at the foot of it. With just one day off, Sienna and her rumored boyfriend had clearly escalated things to a boiling point.
Just look at her neck! She was absolutely covered.
How much did he have to obsess over her to leave marks like that?
Not to mention Sienna's raspy voice, perfectly complementing those heavy dark circles. It was glaringly obvious how she had spent her hard-earned day off.
It went without saying.
During the lunch break, Sienna's meal card was already active, but she had gotten used to heading to the cafeteria with Mindy.
Today, besides Mindy, a few other women from their team joined them. They usually didn't talk much, only exchanging a few words during work handovers.
Work aside, Sienna didn't particularly like these women.
They were a notorious little clique. Every time Sienna ran into them, she heard them gossiping about someone else.
Once, in the restroom, she had even heard her own name dropped.
The topics naturally revolved around her being a nepotism hire, her ties with Marcus Lawson, and her being nothing more than eye candy.
It wasn't until she took over a project and finished their three-day workload in a single afternoon that they finally shut their mouths.
Sitting together for lunch, Sienna tried her best to stay covered up, but they were sitting too close, and Jorrod had simply been too ruthless. The red marks on her neck were spotted immediately.
The group's thirst for gossip flared up instantly.
Led by Rena, one of the senior coworkers.
They bombarded Sienna with a frantic interrogation about her boyfriend.
Who chased who, how old was he, where did he work, what did he look like, how tall was he, and even how good he was in bed.
"Come on, how is he? Do you have pictures? Let's see some pictures!"
"Yeah, Sienna, don't hide him from us. Let us take a peek! We promise we won't tell a soul."
