When you put a group of people together, regardless of whether they were men or women, gossip was inevitable.
After Sienna and Elara left, Silas's table immediately erupted into a lively discussion.
Two stunning women they had never seen before—everyone was curious.
Especially a man in a purple dress shirt at the table, who had spent half his meal staring in their direction.
Once the girls were gone, the man in the purple shirt asked Silas, "Did you know the girls at that table?"
Silas replied lazily, "I know one of them. The one with the long hair."
Hitting the nail right on the head.
The purple shirt smirked. "Give me her contact info? I'd love to get to know her."
Silas let out a mocking scoff. "Hers? Sure. As long as you're not afraid of Jorrod finding out."
Jorrod.
Though the reference was casual.
In the city of Aurelia, there was only one family with the name Vaughn.
And the only person Silas was close enough to call by his first name with that kind of respect was Jorrod Vaughn.
Overcome with shock, the man in the purple shirt quietly zipped his mouth shut.
It was true that Silas and Jorrod had been friends for years, but the rest of them weren't in that inner circle. They were too busy trying to earn his favor to ever dream of stealing his woman.
In the past, they had always hoped Silas would bring Jorrod to these casual gatherings, but every attempt had failed miserably.
Simply put, Jorrod despised pointless socializing.
The wealthy heir in the purple shirt, whose lifestyle had been branded "pointless," had once complained to his own father about Jorrod's arrogance. Instead of sympathizing, his father had used Jorrod as the gold standard of the perfect son.
"Who do you think you are? That man was born and bred to take over a massive empire, not to sit around eating, drinking, and enjoying the world like the rest of you."
So, this piece of gossip was earth-shattering.
After all, in all these years, Jorrod's name had never been linked to any woman.
The girl from earlier was incredibly beautiful, but she was dressed simply, looking nothing like a socialite from a prominent family. That meant this couldn't possibly be an arranged marriage...
The purple shirt couldn't suppress his curiosity. "Hey Silas, is that girl Jorrod's girlfriend?"
Standing directly in front of the open window, she let the cool breeze hit her for a long while.
Only when she finally felt cold did she turn around.
A man was standing right behind her, and she nearly jumped out of her skin.
"Are you trying to scare me to death, walking around without making a sound?"
Jorrod pressed his lips together, lowered his eyes, and reached out, offering her a piece of clothing.
"It's cold by the window. I didn't want you to freeze."
Sienna glanced down and saw the light heather-gray zip-up fleece she had left on the sofa earlier.
She took it, her tone softening slightly. "Didn't I tell you not to wait up? Why aren't you asleep?"
Having just screamed her lungs out at the karaoke lounge for two hours, followed by standing in the cold wind, Sienna's throat was feeling quite dry. After she spoke, she couldn't help but gently clear her throat.
Jorrod noticed immediately. His tone laced with deep concern, he asked, "What's wrong with your throat?"
Sienna had no intention of letting him know she had sneaked out to party behind his back, so she casually brushed it off as nothing.
