I Fell for the Man Who Ruined Me, Then He Forgot He Ever Loved Me Back novel Chapter 88

Jorrod, however, refused to let it go. "Is it because you were screaming too hard last night?"

"Of course not!!" Sienna's face instantly burned a furious red.

God kill her now. Why did this man talk about these things with such absolute calm, as if discussing what they had for breakfast?

Jorrod offered a quiet hum. When Sienna tried to walk past him, he grabbed her hand and pulled her right back. He clearly had something to say, his dark, bottomless eyes locking onto her. Her reflection was mirrored in his pupils, alongside an ocean of emotions he seemed too terrified to fully unleash.

Sienna looked up at him, watching as his lips parted slightly. He asked, "In a minute, can I... go inside?"

She had initially been curious about what he was hesitating to say.

Instantly, the blood rushed back to her face, and she almost choked on her own breath.

What was wrong with him? Was he addicted? Who even uses the phrase "go inside" to describe that?!

"Don't! Ever! Say those words again!!!" Acting as if the sweater in her hands was radioactive, she threw it directly back at his chest.

Caught off guard, Jorrod caught the fleece, his brow furrowing slightly as he looked down at her. "But you were bitten... If you won't let me go inside your room, I'll just apply the ointment for you in the living room, okay?"

Oh.

He meant going inside her bedroom.

Sienna rubbed her throbbing temples, an epic headache forming behind her eyes.

How was she supposed to explain that those weren't bite marks, and she wasn't so fragile that she needed someone to apply medical ointment to a hickey?

"You didn't bite me, and I don't need any ointment. Go to sleep early."

Having delivered her clean rejection, Sienna turned on her heel and walked away.

A few steps later, sensing the utter silence behind her, she glanced over her shoulder. The man was standing exactly where she had left him, looking utterly desolate, still clutching the sweater she had just thrown at him...

"..."

Since the moment she walked through the door, it felt like she had been doing nothing but rejecting him.

Elara's words from earlier echoed in her mind.

Whether it was purely an impulsive drive or just hormones hijacking her brain.

She actually wanted to give it a try with him.

It was true. Jorrod had a gorgeous face, a spectacular body, and he pampered, cared for, and looked after her with obsessive detail. Even in bed, he was a diligent laborer, entirely dedicated to serving and pleasing her with apocalyptic stamina.

Living under the same roof with a man like that day in and day out—remaining completely unaffected would be the real abnormality.
