Most of lunch consisted of elegant Western dishes.
However, catering to Elara's tastes, Silas had specifically ordered a massive platter of spicy crawfish.
The crawfish was the last dish brought to the table.
And of course, it was time for Silas to desperately show off again.
"You just keep eating. I'll peel them for you."
Silas looked around the table and casually grabbed a wet wipe packet from a little basket sitting on the corner.
As he tore it open, he complained, "I've been meaning to say this for a while, but these restaurants really need to stop making wet wipe wrappers look like condoms. There's zero artistic aesthetic, it's just vulgar..."
Wet wipe?
Sienna froze.
She didn't own any wet wipes.
Then something clicked, and her head snapped up.
She remembered! That was the thing Jorrod had left behind that afternoon, tossing the extra packet into the little bamboo basket after he had carried her to the table.
"Wait!!!"
Too late.
Silas smoothly, entirely unbothered, and then with absolute horror...
Pulled out a slippery, slimy object.
Sienna wanted to bash her head against a wall.
"Oh, it actually is a condom..."
"..."
"Well, that's still the restaurant's fault. If they didn't use this packaging, I wouldn't have been confused..." Silas tossed it into the trash can, trying to act cool as he grabbed a napkin to wipe his hands.
Elara obviously knew exactly what was going on. She kept her head down and silently focused on her food.
Harvey's gossip radar went off immediately. "Huh? Sienna, when did you get a new boyfriend? Why didn't you tell us? That's so messed up."
"Shut up," Elara hissed through clenched teeth. She threw a side-eye at the two guilty parties across the table and viciously elbowed Harvey in the ribs.
Harvey winced. "You know about this too? Who is it? Do I know him?"
Sienna's ears were burning red.
Out of the corner of her eye, she felt Jorrod's gaze resting heavily on her.
She refused to look back or acknowledge him, keeping her head buried in her food.
The next day at work, Sienna was nodding off at her desk.
Seeing how exhausted she looked, Janice York walked over and dropped a thin stack of bound documents on her desk.
"Director Yates from the Design Department needs these. Run them up to her, it'll give you a chance to walk around and wake up."
Sienna had no reason to say no, but she had no idea who Director Yates was.
"Get off the elevator, walk down the hall, and take a left. It's the really big office."
Janice added that Director Yates was incredibly unique.
She rocked a head full of thick, curly red hair.
When she got there, whoever looked like they just stuck a fork in a light socket was Director Yates.
The Design Department was on the upper floors, and since Sienna's office was on the west side, it was quite a trek.
By the time she found the massive office Janice had described, Sienna was completely wide awake.
The room was huge, and packed with people.
Just like Mindy Monroe had mentioned, the vibe up here was totally different from the floors below.
Everyone was hyper-focused on their screens, bathed in the glow of their monitors, looking dead serious.
