I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 172

"You might not want the money, but I refuse to let an outsider use my property for free. We have a marriage certificate, which proves ownership. Right now, you belong to me. If someone else uses you, they owe me compensation."

Hayden's face darkened with every word she spoke.

Did she even realize what she was implying?

She was making him sound like Sienna's gigolo.

His hands curled into fists at his sides, his knuckles cracking.

"Zoe, watch your words."

Zoe looked at him, her smile dripping with sarcasm.

"What? Did I say something wrong? Point out the lie, and I'll rephrase it."

Faced with her blatant provocation, Hayden's patience snapped.

Zoe saw him reach for his phone and asked instinctively.

"What are you doing?"

He had already dialed 911.

"Calling the police. I'm reporting an illegal escort business renting out a legal husband. I've got your entire speech recordedβ€”"

Zoe stared at him.

She had only been bluffing to piss him off, but he was actually doing it.

Panic and fury seized her as she lunged for his phone.

"Hayden, are you a psycho?"

But Hayden was beyond reasoning.

"911, what's your emergency?"

Zoe felt a chill run down her spine.

She was just running her mouth, but he actually called the cops on her.

"You've lost your mind!"

Hayden pressed his lips into a tight, furious line.

It wasn't long before the police arrived.

Mrs. Gable was bewildered to find six uniformed officers at the door, but she ushered them in.

When Captain Briggs saw Hayden and Zoe, a headache immediately throbbed at his temples.

Them again?

"Mr. Thorne, is there a problem?"

Because of Hayden, he had been reprimanded twice already.

He had narrowly avoided writing a formal apology.

He had learned to ignore any calls related to bars at night just to dodge this walking nightmare.

Why was he being summoned directly to the manor now?

"Ask her."
