I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 188

Zoe couldn't believe Hayden had the audacity to say something so shameless out loud.

She spun around, her eyes icy as they locked onto his. “When a gift is given, you don't get to demand it back. It was given to me, and I gave it to someone else. You’re never getting it back.”

Hayden had fully anticipated this response. Sienna was still nursing a bitter grudge over the $400,000 she had been forced to transfer to Zoe, and this was her perfect revenge.

Sienna clung to Hayden’s arm. This time, he made no effort to create distance, letting her hold onto him like they were a deeply devoted couple.

“Ms. Lynd,” Sienna said, her tone dripping with condescension. “There’s no use holding onto something that doesn't belong to you. I really love that car. It technically belongs to Hayden anyway, so I’d appreciate it if you just returned it to me.”

“Did you just call him Hayden?” Zoe snapped. “He and I—”

“Zoe,” Hayden interrupted, his voice a low, lethal warning. “Watch your mouth and remember our agreement.” He knew exactly what she was about to say, and he was warning her not to cross the line in public.

Zoe snapped her mouth shut.

Sienna let out a soft, forgiving sigh. “Let it go, Hayden. It’s just a car.”

Zoe sucked in a sharp breath. *Just a car?* It was a multi-million-dollar luxury vehicle, and Sienna spoke about it like it was spare change.

Hayden shot Sienna a reassuring glance before turning his cold eyes back to Zoe. “It’s not about the car. Three days, Zoe. Transfer the title at the DMV. Or else.” He let the threat hang heavily in the air, leaving the catastrophic consequences to her imagination. Zoe clutched her chest, barely able to catch her breath. The car he had given her, she had already gifted to Nadia Fox, and it was impossible to take it back. She wasn't as thick-skinned as Hayden, to demand back a gift already given—especially just to blatantly hand it over to his mistress. If she didn't give the car to Hayden, he certainly wouldn't let her off.

Garrett stood there, thoroughly appalled. The CEO of a massive empire was acting like a petty, vindictive child. His behavior was wildly erratic. One second he was obsessively possessive of his wife, and the next, he was tearing her down to appease his brother's widow.

Garrett noticed the blood draining from Zoe’s face. “Are you alright?” he asked softly.
