I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 24

What shocked Zoe more was that a normal man taking a brutal hit like that would already be calling an ambulance, yet this man, despite his face twisting in agony, still lunged at her.

In her panic, she blurted out, "Hayden, this is wrong. You're my sister's fiancรฉ."

Hayden forcefully pinned down her long legs before she could kick him again. Gritting through the excruciating double pain, he pressed her firmly into the back seat.

His crimson eyes were bloodshot, laced with disbelief and fury.

Sister's fiancรฉ?

What the hell was wrong with her? She had been acting off for days.

Sienna was already married and widowed, and he had become her husband.

For the past five years, she had loved him so desperately she would have given her life for him. Today, not only did she turn her back on him, but she also tried to destroy his future legacy.

Hayden's hand suddenly clamped around her slender neck.

No woman had ever made him lose control to the point of wanting to strangle her on the spot. Zoe must have completely lost her mind to provoke him time and time again.

Who did Hunter Keating think he was? He didn't deserve to covet his woman.

"You really love him, huh? He comes back and you want me dead, is that it?"

Before Zoe could even process his words, her breath was stolen once again.

This time, Hayden's kiss and movements were nothing like before. Woven through the aggression was a faint trace of tenderness.

It felt like a fragment from her memory.

Memoryโ€”

Hmm?

Zoe was kissed until her head spun. He even bit her lip, the metallic taste of blood spreading in her mouth.

This was the version of him she recognized.

Like a beast, a completely enraged beast.

Two hours later, Zoe lay crying against Hayden's chest.

Hayden smoothed out his suit without an ounce of expression on his face, as if nothing had just happened.

He glanced at Zoe. Her clothes were utterly ruined.

Tears clung to her eyelashes as she tried to put as much distance between herself and Hayden as possible.

Wearing Hayden's suit naturally gave off an effortless, high-fashion vibe.

But Zoe was furious.

Wearing his clothes would inevitably spark wild rumors. What decent woman would walk around wearing a man's jacket like this?

Taking her to the mall was just asking for public humiliation.

"I'm not going."

Zoe bit her lower lip, a tear still sliding down her right cheek.

What was this supposed to mean?

A slap followed by a peace offering? No, he destroyed her clothes, so this was compensation.

Hayden's gaze swept over her body.

Even though he took a brutal kick that almost ruined his future, the following two hours had more than made up for it.

He was actually in a fantastic mood, which meant his temper was surprisingly tolerant.

"Be good. You don't want to go to the office like this and let everyone see you."
