I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 281

Mrs. Winters was practically dying of fury.

Sienna, standing right next to her, heard every word with perfect clarity.

"Did you hear that? Does she even sound human? Tell Hayden, whatever garbage deal they have, absolutely cut ties with her.

The Lynd family fell from grace a long time ago. This social circle has no place for someone like her. Sienna, you don't need to acknowledge her as your sister. I'm telling you this right now."

Thinking about her husband lying in the intensive care unit, Mrs. Winters was consumed with agonizing grief.

Her hatred for Zoe burned deeper than ever.

Sienna's gaze turned dark.

She grabbed her phone and immediately called Hayden.

For the next few days, Zoe waited for news from the police station.

Surprisingly, nobody came looking for her.

She stopped worrying about it entirely.

She went to work as usual, focusing on setting up her own independent studio.

She and Garrett had stopped running the AI companion robot project entirely through the company.

Garrett came looking for her and found her deeply engrossed in her work, looking as though absolutely nothing was wrong.

Zoe had just wrapped up a task and looked up to see him.

"Easton Group is hosting a bidding event tomorrow. All the heavy-hitting tech companies in the city have been invited."

Zoe frowned in confusion.

"A bidding event? Do they have a new project?"

Garrett scoffed. "If my guess is right, it's the exact same AI companion robot project we rejected. It seems they still have no intention of developing it in-house."

Zoe wasn't surprised in the slightest.

Sienna's proposal was a blatant rip-off of her concept. Naturally, Sienna lacked the technical ability to actually build it.

Easton's tech department had always been under Zoe's leadership.

When she left, she left behind her core developers, but whether Sienna actually understood anything about AI was highly debatable.

Her former team was certainly capable.

But even the most capable team needed a competent leader to guide and manage them.

Unfortunately for Easton, when she walked out the door, she took their strongest processing power with her.

"Are we going tomorrow?" Zoe asked.

Garrett smiled. "Of course we are. They stole our concept, we refused to partner with them, and now they're publicly putting it up for bidโ€”proving they don't have the technical chops to pull it off themselves. We might as well go enjoy the show.

I don't know what Hayden is thinking. How could he let you walk out of the company, only to hand the reins of Easton over to Sienna as acting CEO? It's completely absurd."

Zoe shrugged it off.

She knew exactly how Easton Group operated.

Rumor had it the company's legal representative was Charles Thorneโ€”Sienna's dead husband.

Even though he was gone, Hayden had somehow ensured Charles remained the legal representative.

So technically, Easton Group belonged entirely to Sienna.

It actually had very little to do with Hayden himself.

Hayden was notorious for bending over backwards for his younger brother.

Love me, love my dog.

With his brother gone, he naturally had to elevate his sister-in-law and nephew.

Garrett listened to Zoe's explanation and let out a long sigh.

"A woman that even historical kings couldn't tame, and yet Mr. Thorne is doubling down."

Given Zoe's presence, Garrett realized his remark was perhaps a bit too blunt.

Fortunately, Zoe didn't look upset in the slightest.

"I wouldn't be so sure. If Holden didn't look so completely different from Hayden, I'd seriously suspect he was their biological son."

Even if it was for his brother's sake, an actual father wouldn't go to the extremes Hayden did.

Were there really that few men in the world who neglected their own flesh and blood?

Well, it was somewhat understandable.
