Zoe's expression turned frigid as she pointed straight at Terrence, who hadn't managed to hide in time.
"Why is he here?"
Sienna scoffed. "He's my father. Why shouldn't he be here? Grandmother invited him to this dinner. And she was the one who pulled the strings to get him out safely. You didn't honestly think she was on your side, did you?
I am the rightful granddaughter-in-law of the Thorne family, the one who gave them their eldest great-grandson. Look at yourself. Your daughter doesn't even carry the family's last name. What right do you have to be here?"
Zoe didn't buy a single word of Sienna's boasting. "Grandmother is here?"
Sienna's tone grew even colder. "If it weren't for Grandmother, how else would our family be sitting here?"
Zoe's phone buzzed in her hand. The screen flashed with Hayden's number. She hadn't saved his contact, but those digits were permanently burned into her memory.
After a brief hesitation, she answered.
"Come to the main entrance. Grandmother collapsed."
Without a second glance at Sienna, Zoe sprinted toward the lobby.
Sure enough, Grandmother Thorne had been laid out on one of the lobby sofas, completely unconscious.
"I'll pull the car around. Watch her," Hayden ordered.
Zoe didn't argue, staying right by the older woman's side. Hayden brought the car to the front doors, and together they carefully helped Grandmother inside before speeding off to the hospital.
Back in the private room, Sienna waited for a long time. When Hayden never returned, she called him, only to find out he was already at the hospital with the old woman.
Mrs. Winters was anxious to see Zoe put in her place. She didn't care about Grandmother Thorne's health; she only wanted to know where Hayden was.
"Mom, Hayden said to order whatever we want. He's covering the bill," Sienna explained. "Grandmother threw a fit, so he has to go play the dutiful grandson and calm her down. Let's just leave them to it."
She wasn't about to let a hospital trip ruin their family celebration. Honestly, with the old lady gone, they could enjoy the meal in peace.
Mrs. Winters and Terrence had been genuinely rattled by the old woman's outburst earlier. Knowing Hayden had taken her away gave them a massive wave of relief.
"That old woman is losing her grip. She's completely blind to people's true colors, still defending a wretched girl like Zoe," Mrs. Winters grumbled. "Sienna, you need to find a way to warn her. Don't let her be fooled by Zoe's innocent act, or it'll backfire on us."
Sienna pressed her lips into a tight line.
