Zoe stared at Julian in absolute silence, her brows knitting together in disgust.
She couldn't comprehend a single word of his delusional rambling.
What kind of garbage was he spewing?
Treating him like empty air, Zoe simply walked right past him.
Julian had assumed Zoe would at least stop and chat. Her blatant disregard sparked a flare of anger in him.
"Don't act so high and mighty, Zoe! The Lynd family is dead, and the Thornes don't want you. Do you really think just because the Kendalls threw you a bone, you've suddenly made it? Businessmen only care about profit, not loyalty—don't tell me you don't understand that. The Kendalls are only keeping you around because you're useful. How long do you think Garrett will actually coddle you? A beauty like you, he'll play with you for a year or two before tossing you aside. By the time he dumps you, it'll be too late for tears."
Zoe finally stopped in her tracks and turned around slowly. A triumphant thrill shot through Julian, convinced his words had successfully seduced her.
"Who exactly gave you the confidence to speak to me like that?"
The entire Winters family was a nest of vipers she couldn't wait to scrape off her shoes. Was Julian's brain completely filled with cement?
The smug smirk vanished from Julian's face. Zoe stared at him with glacial eyes. "I am here representing Zenith. Who are you? Is your name even on the guest list? How did you sneak in? Every single invitation was personally reviewed and approved by Zenith. I know for a fact your name isn't on there."
Julian's face flushed a violent shade of purple. He didn't have an invitation—Sienna had smuggled him in.
He had waltzed through the doors completely unchecked, riding high on his own ego.
Once inside, he had looked down on the entire event, watching people scramble to suck up to the Kendalls. He hadn't recognized a single face in the crowd and assumed they were all nobodies.
"Zoe, stop acting like you run the place. Do I need your permission to be here? I walked through the front door. Hayden Thorne is my family—the husband you couldn't keep. Is that a good enough reason for you?"
Zoe's gaze grew even colder.
"This is an exclusive commercial press conference strictly for industry insiders. It involves highly classified business and government secrets. Are you telling me Hayden Thorne bypassed security to let you in?"
