I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 387

Sienna bit her lower lip hard.

It was a highly classified aerospace base. Hayden had purposely kept her away.

Yet a man with Garrett's formidable political background had flaunted Zoe right through the front gates.

Garrett might be blinded by lust, but why on earth did a strict official like Director Yates turn a blind eye to it?

'Zoe has suffered so much over the years,' Sienna sighed tragically. 'Hayden doesn't love her, and she's battered herself to pieces holding on. There were so many times I wanted to beg her to let go, but I was so terrified of hurting her... sigh.'

That single sigh carried layers of faux helplessness, sorrow, and calculated nuance.

She played the role of the devoted, heartbreakingly loyal sister to perfection.

Ethan snapped his mouth shut.

Internally, however, he scoffed. Sienna's pure intentions were completely wasted on a manipulative woman like Zoe.

'If Mr. Kendall truly treats her well and things work out between them, maybe that's exactly what she needs,' Sienna added softly.

While she played the saint out loud, a vicious thought crossed her mind: Garrett is just temporarily blinded by her lies. Once the illusion shatters, he'll toss her to the curb just like everyone else.

Ethan couldn't disagree more. He let out a dry, cynical laugh.

'Not a chance. If Garrett and the Kendall family actually saw her as a potential match, they would have pressured her to divorce Hayden immediately so they could get engaged. They wouldn't have publicly claimed her as an honorary sister.'

'Your sister isn't nearly as pathetic as you think. For all we know, she's scheming to keep her title as Mrs. Thorne while simultaneously stringing Garrett along for the ride. She's far too cunning for you to understand, Sienna. Don't waste your pity on a snake.'

Ethan was entirely convinced he had Zoe fully figured out.

The depths of Zoe's deception were far beyond Sienna's innocent comprehension.

Sienna fell silent.

A sickening knot of jealousy tightened in her chest.

Was Ethan right? Was Zoe really playing both sides?

A woman like her...

What right did she have to wield that kind of power?

Meanwhile, Hayden had locked himself in his office for the entire day.

He checked his phone compulsively. Not a single text from Zoe.

Let alone a returned call.

Slumped deep into his leather executive chair, his expression was utterly terrifying.

His long fingers dug into the knot of his silk tie, ripping it loose. A button popped off his collar, hitting the hardwood floor with a sharp clack.
