I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 433

Yates had no idea what Hayden and Zoe were arguing about, but he knew better than to intervene.

After dragging her a few steps away, Hayden's grip on her elbow turned punishingly tight.

Anticipating Zoe's counterattack, Hayden smoothly caught her waist and pinned her flush against the wall.

Trapped between his muscular arms, Zoe couldn't move an inch. She tried to bring her knee up to strike him, but he had pressed his body seamlessly against hers, leaving her zero room to maneuver.

Hayden had come prepared. In a physical fight, she simply wasn't his match.

"We are on a military base. Back off," she hissed.

Hayden let out a dark, mocking laugh.

"I know exactly where we are, better than you do. That woman, Cherry, is your subordinate. Do you have any idea who she really is?"

Zoe had known he would come hunting for Cherry to avenge Sienna's humiliation.

Too bad he was barking up the wrong tree.

"You're a man of endless resources, Mr. Thorne. If you want to run a background check, you don't need to interrogate me. I have absolutely nothing to say about Cherry."

Hayden glared down at her. His eyes were like jagged glass, carving into her skin.

"You really treat your company like a garbage dump, don't you? Taking in any trash you find off the streets."

Zoe knew he was trying to tear Cherry down, but she wasn't going to entertain his blatant hypocrisy.

"Weren't you the manager of the local garbage dump first, Mr. Thorne? You treat a fraud who steals other people's academic work like an absolute treasure.

I guess in your eyes, a loyal woman trying to live an honest life is trash, while a pathological liar is a prize."

The thing Hayden hated most in the world was Zoe bringing up Sienna, especially with such venomous sarcasm.

"I am talking to you about serious business."

But Zoe refused to be bullied.

"Commander Thorne, we are on a military base, not your personal playground. Remember your rank."
