"Hayden, where did you go?"

Sienna bit her lip, drowning in self-pity.

After arriving at Blackwood Manor with Holden, she had been floating on cloud nine.

To celebrate her first day officially living with him, she had hired a five-star chef to prepare a lavish dinner, eagerly waiting to begin their perfect life as a family of three.

Hayden rubbed his temples. It was painfully obvious Zoe wasn't going to call.

After a sleepless night and a crushing wave of disappointment, he looked exhausted and miserable.

"I went home."

Sienna choked on her breath.

Completely lost as to what he meant by 'home.'

"Did you go back to the Thorne estate?"

Hayden saw no reason to hide it.

"To the new house. For Zoe and me."

Sienna felt as though she had been struck by lightning. By moving her and Holden into Blackwood Manor, hadn't he essentially confirmed their relationship?

The divorce certificate left casually on the master bed was supposed to be his ultimate proof of loyalty.

She had waited all night for him to come home and say the words himself—that he was finally free of Zoe and that she was the only woman he had ever wanted to marry.

Instead, she had spent the night alone, only to hear him say he had a new home with Zoe?

"But aren't you two divorced?"

The words tumbled out before she could stop them. The certificate was still clenched tightly in her hands. The official state seal proved it wasn't a fake.

"You have the divorce papers?"

Only then did Hayden remember how furious he had been the day they finalized the paperwork. He had tossed the booklet somewhere inside Blackwood Manor, entirely forgetting about it.

"Yes. Since you and Zoe are divorced, there's no reason for you to live together anymore."

Hayden's jaw tightened. Sienna was overstepping her bounds.

Still, he didn't hold it against her.

"That document is legally void. Do me a favor—tear it up and throw it away."

Sienna gripped the phone so tightly her knuckles turned white. The device was growing uncomfortably hot against her ear.

"What exactly is going on between you and Zoe?"
