I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 48

Hayden raised a dark brow, his gaze dropping straight to the expanse of luminous skin revealed by the slipping sheets, entirely unwilling to look away.

Startled, Zoe instantly yanked the covers up, wrapping herself tightly.

"This is my bedroom. Why do you think you're in here?"

Hayden extinguished his cigarette and slowly sauntered toward the bed.

Zoe's soul seemed to slam back into her body as the memories of the stunt she pulled after meeting Nadia came flooding back.

"Right, I'll go back to my own room immediately."

Ha.

She let out a dry laugh, looking at the clothes scattered across the floor and realizing she was stark naked.

Oh God. Had this absolute beast taken advantage of her again last night?

Did she have to go back and face Dr. Lambert today?

As panic washed over her face, Hayden stepped right up to her.

He casually tossed a medical report in front of her.

"What is this?"

Zoe never expected him to dig through her bag. That was the report from her gynecologist visit.

Seriously, this man was a total creep. What was there to look at in a document like that?

When she had pulled the covers up, she noticed the faint smell of medicinal ointment on her body. Don't tell me this guy actually applied the medicine for her.

In such an intimate area...

Zoe didn't even dare finish the thought.

"Hayden, you're a creep."

She finally blurted it out.

Hayden was furious, his jaw grinding hard.

"What did you just call me?"

Seeing his bloodshot eyes and the predatory look on his face, Zoe didn't dare repeat it.

Hayden grabbed the prescription slip and threw it at her.

"Psychiatric referral. Medication for severe psychosis and hyper-aggression. Patient Name: Hayden Thorne???"

Zoe flinched.

So he hadn't pulled her physical exam report. He had found the psychiatric prescription Dr. Lambert had angrily scribbled out.

Zoe had been feeling petty when she got it, so she had filled Hayden's name in the blank as a joke.

It was purely for her own amusement, and she had just stuffed it back into her bag.

Hayden leaned in close to her ear and bit down hard on her sensitive earlobe. Caught entirely off guard, Zoe shuddered like an autumn leaf, trembling so hard the bed shook.

Even then, Hayden showed no intention of letting her go.

He guided her hand lower toward his waist, forcing her fingers against the buckle of his belt.

"Mr... Mr. Thorne, please don't do this."

The blinding pain from the car that day was still fresh in her memory.

Was this man a sex-crazed maniac? Why did he want it every single day?

"Call me Hayden... or..."

His voice dropped to a dangerously seductive whisper. "Husband."

Hayden kept her hand trapped against his firm abs, dragging it downward. Zoe was so terrified she squeezed her eyes shut, but Hayden whispered a dark threat in her ear.

"Don't close your eyes. Or I'll tie you to this bed and you won't leave it for three months."

Zoe was paralyzed with fear, her eyes snapping open as wide as saucers.

Her dark eyes darted around, only daring to look from his neck up.

Hayden curved his lips into a wicked smirk, his voice dripping with magnetic temptation.

"Do you like how it feels, Mrs. Thorne?"
