"Stay put. I'll check," Hayden ordered, throwing his door open. Timothy reached back to keep Zoe steady, afraid her curiosity might get her killed.

Garrett immediately followed Hayden out of the car.

Staring down into the gaping crater, they realized how close they had just come to dying.

"Road's gone. We either reverse or find a detour," Garrett said, agreeing with Hayden for once.

As they climbed back inside, Hayden caught a glimpse of a shadow in the distance. Yara Quinn.

His expression darkened, and he abruptly changed his mind.

"We'll do as Director Yates suggested. Fort Hamilton Military Hospital."
