Yara looked at Garrett like he had lost his mind. Garrett watched, utterly stunned, as a scene straight out of an action movie unfolded in front of him.

Without breaking eye contact, Yara grabbed the hem of her tactical shirt, ripped off a strip of fabric, bound it tightly around her bleeding arm, and used her teeth to pull the knot taut to stop the bleeding.

She didn't so much as wince.

Garrett let out a breathless laugh. He had wanted to play the hero, but next to this woman, he was entirely useless.

Yara didn't spare him a second glance, sprinting straight toward Sterling.

Seeing Yara approach, Marcus practically sagged in relief.

"Miss Quinn—"

Yara silenced him with a sharp look. "I've secured the perimeter. Evacuate the Commissioner through the rear exit immediately. My team will handle the cleanup."

Marcus nodded frantically, signaling the detail to escort Sterling out.

With the situation stabilizing, Zoe hurried over to Garrett, finding him staring blankly at the door Yara had just disappeared through.

"Garrett, are you okay?"

The chaos had been blinding, but Zoe had relied on her training to stay grounded.

Snapped back to reality, Garrett offered a faint, imperceptible smile.

"I'm fine. Zoe, I was completely useless out there. I couldn't even protect you."

Seeing his despondent look, Zoe realized what had happened. She had caught a glimpse of Garrett trying to assist Yara, only for it to backfire completely.

Yara was clearly elite.

Zoe looked at him, a knowing glint in her eye as she noted his dazed expression.

"You're a businessman, Garrett. Without tactical training, no one expects you to have reflexes like Officer Quinn. You aren't seriously trying to compete with her, are you?"

Zoe teased.
