Hayden was stunned that Yara was openly defying his orders. His expression darkened ominously.

He remained silent for two seconds, forcefully suppressing his frustration. "Suit yourself."

After hanging up, he couldn't shake his foul mood.

His subordinates were getting increasingly impossible to manage.

Hayden nearly smashed his phone against the wall.

Because Zoe was calling.

Hearing that familiar voice dripping with unnatural, sickeningly sweet affection gave Zoe goosebumps. She shot her phone a disgusted look, pulled it a few inches from her ear, and double-checked the caller ID to make sure she hadn't dialed a stranger.

Hayden deliberately kept his tone warm and approachable, terrified of spooking her.

That was the absolute harshest insult he could muster. Zoe stared blankly as the line went dead, before cursing out loud.

"What an asshole. You were the one dying to finalize this."

Zoe was furious. They had already signed the agreement, so why was he stalling?

Then it hit her.

Of course. She had just crushed his precious Sienna and taken back the assets that originally belonged to the Lynd family. Her mother had practically given away her father's entire fortune to Terrence Winters, and Zoe had just reclaimed it. Sienna must have gone crying to his office.
