I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 678

Everything was Zoe's fault. If it weren't for Zoe, her daughter Sienna would still be sitting pretty as Mrs. Thorne, and Clara wouldn't be homeless.

The receptionist saw Clara, put on a bright smile, and was about to ask if she had an appointment when Clara walked right past her without a glance.

Realizing something was wrong, the receptionist stepped forward to block her. Her attitude was polite but firm, accompanied by a professional smile. "Ma'am, do you have an appointment? You can't just head upstairs without one."

"Appointment?"

Clara sneered, her voice suddenly spiking into a shrill screech. "I'm looking for Zoe Lynd! Tell her to drag her ass down here to see me. I'm her mother! Does she think she's so special that a mother and daughter need an appointment to meet?"

Clara was so loud that passersby turned to look, and whispers began to spread.

Someone recognized her, which only fueled the gossip.

"So Mrs. Winters is Ms. Lynd's mother? I've never heard that before."

However, Clara's aggressive demeanor suggested she was here to cause trouble.

Seeing she didn't seem to be lying, the receptionist looked conflicted. "Ma'am, please wait in the lounge area while I inform her."

"Wait? Why should a mother have to wait for her! Either she drags herself down here to see me, or I'm going up to find her."

Clara refused to listen. The resentment she had bottled up over the past few days erupted entirely. She even intentionally twisted the facts to smear Zoe.

"Zoe swindled her own sister out of money and assets, and she drove her own mother to a dead end! She's living the high life now, climbing up over her family's corpses. Go ask her if she sleeps soundly at night!

Sienna is terrified to come home because of her! She's a heartless animal. Do you think you can stop me? I am going up there today! Let everyone hear thisβ€”she is my daughter, and I don't know how I gave birth to such an ungrateful wretch!"

Ignoring the receptionist's attempts to stop her, Clara forcefully shoved the staff member aside and stormed toward the elevators in a blind rage, making sure her shrill voice carried to everyone around.

Amidst the chaos, a military vehicle followed by several cars pulled up at the entrance.

Zoe was dressed in a minimalist business suit, her long hair pinned back flawlessly. A faint, icy detachment lingered in her eyes.
