I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 75

Zoe thought he was a total psycho. When did she ever say she was getting back with Hunter?

"Aren't you in love with Sienna?"

The second the words left her mouth, she regretted them.

Sure enough, Hayden froze.

His large hand trailed down from her cheek to her neck and suddenly clamped down.

"Gah—"

Zoe was choked nearly to the point of suffocating. He squeezed and released, causing her to almost buckle to the floor.

A fierce storm of anger flared within Hayden's already darkened gaze.

Furious, he let out a dark laugh.

"Trying to piss me off?"

His fingers resumed tracing the delicate curve of her throat.

Realizing her tactic had failed, Zoe stayed silent.

When this man lost his mind, her basic self-defense skills were entirely useless.

She had figured that out the moment they returned from Thorne Manor.

It didn't matter if she was a national Judo champion; against a man of Hayden's sheer physical dominance, she was utterly powerless.

Otherwise, he would be the one in the hospital right now, instead of easily pinning her in place.

Zoe stared straight into his eyes, showing absolutely no trace of fear.

Hayden studied her intently for a long moment.

He honestly couldn't read her anymore.

But he had zero patience for guessing games.

She was still wearing his oversized T-shirt, which had gotten wet during their struggle.

Hayden felt a heavy throb in his chest.

Zoe hadn't quite realized what was happening yet.

Hayden leaned in close.

"Whatever happens next, you brought this on yourself."

He bit down hard on her neck, sending a sharp spark of pain mixed with electrifying pleasure that made her whole body tremble.

Was he a damn dog? Why did he always insist on biting?

She had no idea what he meant by "bringing this on herself."

Did he mean marrying him, or...

After all, losing Hunter meant she at least got to keep breathing.

Her life took priority.

Hayden seemed unsatisfied with her answer.

"Who am I?"

"What?"

Zoe was stunned. Did he seriously not know his own name? Why was he asking her?

"Hayden Thorne?"

Hayden's stare grew darker.

"Mr. Thorne?"

His expression turned furious, even scarier than it had been a minute ago.

Zoe thought for a long moment before answering.

"Hay... den."

Hayden moved his hands. Just as Zoe thought he was finally going to kill her, he crashed his mouth against her lips instead.

The kiss was savage, entirely stripped of any tenderness.
