I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 86

After registering at the front desk, they found out that Grandmother Eleanor had been moved to the best suite in the facility.

When Zoe and Hunter arrived, her grandmother already had a visitor.

Hayden, dressed in a crisp white shirt and black trousers with his suit jacket draped over his right arm, was sitting opposite the elderly woman, looking every bit the wealthy, respectable gentleman.

Whatever he had been talking about, he had the old lady laughing non-stop, her eyes crinkling into happy little slits.

Zoe froze at the door, her soul nearly leaving her body when she saw him.

What was he doing here?

Hunter was equally surprised.

Hayden sat impeccably straight, his long legs planted firmly on the floor.

His dark eyes swept faintly over Zoe and Hunter, his expression entirely unreadable.

"I had someone move Grandmother to the best suite and hire a top-tier nurse for her."

Hayden's calm voice hit like a thunderclap.

Hunter's grip tightened on the bags of health supplements he was carrying.

This was the most exclusive care facility in the city. Just to get admitted required a massive proof of fundsβ€”at least a billion dollars. A standard room alone cost nearly a million dollars a year, and that didn't even cover meals or private nursing.

With a single gesture, Hayden had easily spent tens of millions.

Hunter hadn't even had a chance to show off before being utterly crushed.

When Grandmother Eleanor saw Zoe, she immediately recognized her granddaughter.

She was beside herself with joy.

"Zoe, sweetie, what took you so long? Look, Hunter came to visit me and got me moved into this big, beautiful room. See how considerate your boyfriend is? You should marry him, I approve."

She reached out, grabbing Zoe's hand with one and Hayden's with the other.

Zoe pulled her hand forcefully out of Hayden's, ignoring the chilling coldness that settled over his already somber face.

"Grandmother, I think you have the wrong person."

From the moment she walked in, Zoe felt something was off with her grandmother, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it.

"How could I have the wrong person? That's Hayden Thorne right there. The bullying jerk. Our Zoe is a million times better than that horrible woman's daughter. If you don't appreciate her, I'd rather not give her to you anyway.

See this? This is my Zoe's boyfriend. Handsome, rich, and treats her wonderfully. If you don't leave right now, I'm going to get the broom."

She glared at the supplements in Hunter's hands with utter disgust.

"I don't want anything from a jerk like you. Take Sienna and get as far away from us as possible. Don't you ever bother our Zoe again."

A chill ran down Zoe's spine. She carefully stole a glance at Hayden.

He was sitting completely unfazed, letting Grandmother Eleanor call Hunter a 'bullying jerk' to his face.
