Gillian squeezed her eyes shut. She couldn't refuse him.
Sometimes, she truly felt like a prostitute, trading her own body to secure the things she desperately needed.
-
She was ruthlessly tossed around all night.
When she finally woke the next morning, her limbs were practically numb, her muscles aching from his relentless stamina.
But York was already gone.
He had been hovering around the house incessantly lately, constantly demanding updates on the baby. He was going to find out the truth sooner or later.
She let out a heavy sigh, clutching a glass of water as she stared off into the distance, lost in thought.
Her mother's health was steadily improving, and everything was finally getting back on track.
The only thing tethering her to York at this point was the illusion of a child.
Gillian pulled her gaze back, staring around the massive house. After a long, silent moment, she made her decision.
She was moving out. She needed to get as far away from York as possible.
She would milk these quiet, obedient days for as long as she could, dragging out his patience. If her father's situation at the prison magically improved, she wouldn't have to grovel to York anymore.
She immediately started browsing rental listings online.
-
By noon.
It was right around lunch, and Gillian had the day off.
She was shocked when York walked through the front door, carrying a massive bouquet of vibrant blue roses.
The blooms were absolutely stunning.
He held the flowers out to Gillian.
Gillian instantly clamped a hand over her nose and stumbled back a few steps.
She used to adore flowers. She had spent countless hours fantasizing about the day he would finally surprise her with a bouquet.
But now...
She had developed a severe pollen allergy. No matter how much she loved them, no matter how gorgeous they were, she couldn't take them.
York scowled, staring at her reaction. "You don't like them?"
