York's dark eyes were exceptionally cold as he stared at Gillian. "Is this the outcome you wanted? Are you satisfied?"

"I can't just tolerate their unreasonable abuse every single time." Gillian stood with her back straight, her expression detached and unyielding. "This time, they crossed my bottom line!"

The man let out a cold scoff and tossed his car keys to Gillian. "Take your mother and wait for me in the car."

Without another word, he turned and chased after Hailey.

Gillian retracted her gaze, handed the car keys to the security guard at the booth, and asked him to give them to York later.

She gently soothed her mother's emotions and purposefully took a different elevator to avoid York. Once they were back inside the apartment, she gave her mother her medication. It took a long while before Mrs. Jordan finally settled down.

Meanwhile, York headed downstairs.

He didn't see Gillian anywhere. The security guard noticed him and handed over the car keys.

He called Gillian's phone, but no one answered. The man tightened his grip on his phone and let out a dark laugh.

Fine. Very well.

He drove back to the Foster Estate.

As soon as he walked in, he noticed the layout of the house had changed.

Unlike before, every single item belonging to Gillian had been cleared out. She hadn't taken a single thing he had bought for her.

York's gaze turned frigid, an icy aura rolling off him in waves.

So this was the business marriage she had proposed.

She wanted absolutely nothing to do with him, moving out the second his back was turned, and with such alarming speed.

It only proved one thing: she had been premeditating her escape from him for a long time!

He looked at Susan as she walked out of the kitchen, his voice laced with frost. "Where is my wife?"

Susan looked visibly confused. "She was still here during the day..."

York remembered seeing Gillian and her mother downstairs at Hailey's apartment complex.

Suddenly, everything clicked into place. He had been so infuriated by her that he completely missed the glaringly obvious clues.

He turned around, walked out the door, and dialed his secretary. "Find out if Gillian's mother was discharged from the hospital."
