Silas's face darkened with rage. "York Foster, do you really think you can just turn the house upside down?"
He marched down the stairs as he spoke. "I opposed this marriage from the very beginning. You two have dragged the Foster name through the mud with all those public scandals!"
York met his gaze with chilling indifference, his tone steeped in mockery. "Then remove me from The Foster Legacy Registry and have another son with Mother."
He was cold, dominant, and absolutely unyielding.
The father and son were at each other's throats.
Evelyn immediately stepped in to play peacemaker. "You two can't even be in the same room without starting a war. What is there to fight about?"
"Enough," Evelyn chided. "Gilly is pregnant, and she came home today. We should be celebrating. Didn't you say you had a board meeting? Hurry up and go, don't be late."
Silas let out a cold scoff, locking a deadly glare on Gillian as if they shared some deep-seated blood feud.
Gillian felt a sudden chill run down her spine under his gaze and frowned slightly.
A second later, Silas turned on his heel and left.
"Gilly, are you okay?" Evelyn patted her hand gently. "You know how Silas is, he's always been like that. Don't take it to heart."
Gillian forced a polite smile. "I'm fine."
York sat on the sofa, his brow furrowed, clearly deeply displeased.
When the old master and Beatrice finally arrived, their faces were lit up with joy.
Beatrice even pulled out a jade bracelet and handed it to Gillian. "This is for my great-grandchild in your belly."
Gillian hesitated to take the bracelet. After all, the baby she carried was already gone.
"Wait until the baby is born... you can give it to them yourself," Gillian politely declined.
Beatrice smiled warmly. "That works too. When the baby arrives, I'll be the first one there to see my great-grandchild."
