I Loved You in the Dark Until Someone Loved Me in the Light novel Chapter 167

York let out a cold, humorless smile.

"What agreement are you signing...?" Julian noticed the open folder on the desk.

"If staying by my side makes her miserable, should I let her go?"

The man's tone was eerily calm, but underneath, a violent storm was brewing.

The question completely threw Julian off guard.

"Well..."

Julian shifted uncomfortably. "I've never been married, and I haven't even had a girlfriend, so I'm really not equipped to answer that..."

"But if you care about Mrs. Foster and value her feelings, maybe letting her go is the right choice..."

York massaged his temples.

The doctor's warnings about prenatal depression and dangerous emotional swings echoed in his mind.

But whenever Gillian was around him, she was nothing short of a nervous wreck.

York's grip on his fountain pen tightened until his knuckles turned white. The veins on the back of his hand bulged, looking as if he were about to snap the metal in two.

Julian took it all in but kept his mouth shut.

Perhaps the boss couldn't bear to let her go either. But Julian couldn't fathom why, if he was so attached to his actual wife, he was keeping a mistress on the side.

York's expression grew incredibly heavy.

Gripping the pen, he finally leaned down and signed his name on The Divorce Settlement.

Staring at his signature, he felt an immediate, hollow drop in his chest.

His brow furrowed tightly.

Julian swallowed hard, not daring to breathe. A sudden, inexplicable chill ran down his spine.

Agitated, York capped the pen, snapped The Divorce Settlement shut, and looked up at Julian.

"What else is on the schedule for today?"
