"Are you coming back or not?" York inhaled deeply on his cigarette, growing impatient.
Gillian gripped her phone tighter. "Fine."
After hanging up.
Miles Stanton had already arrived to pick her up.
The moment Gillian got into his car, he considerately turned up the heat.
There was always a significant temperature difference between men and women. Men naturally ran hotter, while women were more sensitive to the cold.
"I made a reservation at a new place, The Gilded Bistro," he said warmly. "I know you prefer refined flavors. Want to give it a try?"
"Sure."
The restaurant was entirely packed by the time they arrived.
Thankfully, Miles had booked in advance. They were led straight to a private table separated by an elegant screen, surrounded by a sophisticated, upscale atmosphere.
Once they sat down.
Miles handed Gillian the menu to order.
"Take a look. Order whatever you like."
Gillian lowered her eyes, scanning the menu.
Miles watched her. After a long day at work, she had tied her hair back into a loose bun. A few soft, stray strands fell gracefully around her face, giving her a relaxed yet untouchable aura.
It added a soft, profoundly feminine charm to her.
Under the ambient lighting, her skin looked flawlessly luminous.
His gaze deepened before he slowly lowered his eyes. "Xavier told me you put together a proposal and met with an investor."
"Yes, Mr. Conrad is interested," Gillian replied. "My goal is to successfully manage the hospital."
She needed the capability and the capital to afford her mother's care and secure their future.
Miles smiled. "I didn't expect you to move this fast. I clearly underestimated you. I thought it would take you at least until next year to secure any funding."
