Lady Flourish’s POV
โร

The morning after the banquet was far from peaceful. I sat in my office at F-Tech, trying to focus on the silver moon invoice investigation, but every five minutes another employee found an excuse to walk past my window just to get a look at me. The rumor mill had reached a fever pitch.
My phone buzzed on the desk. It was an urgent summons from my stepmother, Lydia.
I let out a weary sigh. I knew I couldn’t avoid my family forever, so after settling the immediate morning reports with Rhys, I drove over to the main family estate. The moment I walked through the front doors, the suffocating atmosphere of tension hit me like a physical wall.
In the main drawing-room, my father, Garret, was pacing back and forth, while Ragnar and Daciana sat on the sofa, rubbing her temples. In the corner, Selene was sobbing loudly into a handkerchief, her eyes swollen and red, while Lydia stood over her, whispering furious encouragement.
“Flourish is here,” Lydia announced venomously the second I stepped into the room.
Selene immediately lifted her head, her teardrops drying up into a glare of pure hatred. “You ruined everything!” she shrieked, standing up so fast her chair almost tipped over. “You embarrassed me in front of the entire summit! You made Damian talk to me like I was trash!”
“You did that to yourself, Selene,” I said calmly, crossing my arms over my chest. “You tried to flirt with an Alpha who was clearly attending the event with a date. What did you expect him to do?”
“A date?!” Lydia barked, taking a sharp step toward me. “You think you’re his date?! You’re nothing but a temporary distraction, Flourish! Harold threw you away, so now you’re trying to claw your way up by clinging to Damian’s suit jacket! Do you have any idea what kind of chaos you’ve caused between the brothers?!”
“Lydia, that is enough,” Daciana said, her voice strained as she stood up from the couch. She looked at me with a complicated expression-partly disappointed, partly sympathetic. “Flourish, dear… we just want to understand. Why now? You never mentioned any connection with Damian before. Harold is deeply hurt.”
I couldn’t help but let out a bitter, disbelieving laugh. “Harold is hurt? Lady Daciana, with all due respect, where was this concern for feelings when Harold paraded Phi a in front of me for months? Where was this outrage when he humiliated me at every family dinner? I spent six years waiting for a man who treated me like an invisible ghost. Damian treated me with respect from day one.”

“Respect?!” Garret finally broke his silence, stepping forward with his heavy Alpha aura bearing down on me. “Damian is using you to put pressure on his brother! You are tearing this family apart over a personal vendetta!”
Before his pressure could crush me, the sapphire pendant resting against my chest glowed faintly beneath my blouse. The microscopic trace of Damian’s Alpha essence flared to life, forming an invisible shield around me that instantly absorbed my father’s aggression. My wolf lifted her chin, completely unbothered.
Garret blinked, shock flickering across his face as he realized my aura hadn’t buckled under his command. He stared at my neckline, recognizing the faint hum of his own family’s ancient
crest stone.
“He… he gave you the Star of Stonehedge,” Ragnar whispered, his voice dropping into stunned disbelief.
Lydia gasped, her hands flying to her mouth. “What?! That relic belongs to the Alpha’s true mate!”
“He gave it to me because he considers me his Luna,” I said firmly, keeping my voice steady and unwavering. “I didn’t steal anything, and I didn’t trick him. If you have a problem with it, take it up with Damian directly. But do not try to intimidate me in my own family home ever again.”
“Flourish, listen to me,” Daciana said quickly, stepping between Ragnar and me, her tone changing from scolding to desperate compromise. “If Damian has truly given you that necklace, the pack elders will never allow a quiet split. But Harold is spiraling out of control. We need a compromise. If we can arrange a formal dinner between both branches of the family- you, Damian, Harold, and Phina-we can clear the air and settle the trade boundaries before this turns into an open challenge.”
“A compromise?” I questioned, lifting an eyebrow. “Harold doesn’t want a compromise, Daciana. He wants control.”
“Please, Flourish,” Daciana practically begged, clutching her hands together. “For the sake of the pack’s stability. If Damian sees that you are willing to sit down and talk peacefully, it will stop him from taking drastic action against his brother. Just one dinner.”
I looked at Daciana, seeing the genuine terror
in a mother’s eyes who knew her eldest son could easily destroy her younger one if a real fight broke out.
“I will ask Damian,” I said softly. “But I won’t force him. And if Harold steps out of line even once, the conversation is over.”
As I turned and walked out of the estate, I missed the dark, calculating look that passed between Lydia and Selene in the corner of the room.
