Chapter 13 Have You Lost Your Mind?

Lady Flourish’s POV

The look in his eyes made a soft gasp escape my lips.

The room was tense now, as everyone held their breaths waiting for an answer.

Even Harold was staring at me intently, waiting, daring me to say it with his eyes.

That was all I needed. I folded my arms and took a step back, inhaling deeply.

“No, I don’t.”

Harold’s nostrils flared in anger. “Flourish, have you lost your mind? I’m your mate!”

“No you are not! You deliberately missed the Luna Rite, so you are not my mate!” I yelled back, my breathing picking up pace.

Damian stepped in front of me, his huge frame blocking out Harold completely. “You heard the woman. Leave, Harold. You’ve embarrassed yourself enough already.”

Harold looked at Damian square in the face for what could’ve been ten seconds, then his wolf retreated.

He was no match for Damian’s dominance.

Harold peeked over his shoulder to look at me one last time, his eyes full of both anger and confusion. Then, he stormed out of the room, his scent lingering in the air.

I didn’t know when I exhaled.

A part of me wanted to tell Damian thank you, but was it exactly necessary? I’m sure I could’ve handled Harold on my own.

The words left my lips anyway.

“Uh, thank you, Damian,” I said, instantly regretting how small my voice was.

Damian turned around, his face inches from mine with an intense look in his eyes. My breath caught for a second, and then he looked away.

“You’re welcome, Little Flower. Shall we continue?”

Absolutely.

The board members thanked him one last time, and everyone began to leave. Soon, it was just I and Damian left in the room.

I got up, grabbed my bag and headed for the door when his voice stopped me.

“Flourish.”

I turned to look at him. His eyes were serious, and I could feel his wolf buzzing with restless energy.

“Is…there a problem?”

He got up then, adjusting the sleeves of his collar. “No, I just need to ask you a question.”

I dropped my bag on the table and folded my arms. “And since when does the Green Devil need permission to ask questions?”

He smirked at that, walking towards me until he was barely a feet away. My wolf whined at the proximity.

What was with him and not understanding personal space?

“Where did you hear that?” He asked.

“Pretty much everyone calls you by it. It suits you, you know. A Devil with green eyes. Very sexy,” I said, my voice dripping with sarcasm.

His eyes darkened slightly at that, dropping to my dress and back up to my face. Then, he chuckled.

“Are you going to perform the Luna Rite again with Harold?”

The question came out of nowhere.

Suddenly the atmosphere became cold, and my feet was itching to leave the room.

“Why would you ask me that?” I retorted.

He shrugged. “Because everything is pointing towards it. You might have lost feelings for the Alpha, but you haven’t clarified it to everyone else.”

“They’re not going to force me into it,” I said lowly.

“I think you’re forgetting how this pack works, Flourish,” his voice had turned gentler. “If you

“That’s not what I meant, Little Flower. They’ll manipulate you into agreeing, and your wolf is as miserable as it is. Don’t let them control you,” he said sternly before walking out, leaving me alone in the empty room.

My heart was the only thing I could hear.

The rest of the day passed without any more drama, and I was grateful when the clock hit 5pm.

“Finally,” I said to my empty office.

I grabbed my bags and headed out, when Rhys appeared beside me.

“Good first day after returning Lady Flourish?” He asked cheerfully.

“Why are you always in such a good mood Rhys?” I asked tiredly, watching as he practically skipped down the hallway.

He laughed warmly. “It’s a mindset thing, Lady Flourish. And who wouldn’t be happy when they get to work in the biggest tech company across seven territories?”

I laughed softly at his remark, when I suddenly remembered Damian. “Seven territories you say? Including Stormbridge?”

Rhys shot me a glance. “Yes, Lady Flourish. Including Stormbridge. But with this his new plan to expand, he could surpass you.”

I stopped in my tracks. “We can’t let that happen.”

Rhys looked stunned for a second, then nodded unsurely. “Sure… Lady Flourish.”

We talked for a bit longer as we walked to the front of the building, when my stomach growled aggressively. It wasn’t loud enough for anyone else to hear,

Damnit.

I had totally forgotten to eat….anything today.

My wolf was basically huffing at me, which was her own way of scolding my eating disorders.

Some days I would eat every hour, and others, I wouldn’t eat at all. My mother used to say it was something I was born with, and she never fully understood why.

I didn’t either.
