Chapter 17 The Rare Moonstone

Lady Flourish’s POV

I stared at the screen, my fists tightening around the screen.

Draethys was a one in a million gem, a rare moonstone that took decades to form. I had mentioned it to him once, telling him how much I would have wanted it for my birthday last month. The same birthday he had overlooked, telling me he didn’t have nearly enough to make preparations for the Luna Rite and still get me a gift.

I felt so fucking stupid.

Just then, Harold tried to mind link me from outside the door. I could tell because his Alpha waves were all over the place, making me nauseous.

I ignored him completely, and he resorted to knocking.

Once, twice, three times, until I got tired of the incessant tapping. When I opened the door, he held up a bag for me.

I eyed it suspiciously. “What is this?”

“I remember you spoke about this bag during our trip to visit Black Hollow pack last year, so I got it for you,” he said softly. His eyes looked sincere, dare I say it, and assuming I hadn’t seen Phina’s post earlier, I might have actually believed Harold was becoming a better person.

Ugh.

“That isn’t necessary Harold. You’re being too kind, this bag must’ve cost you a fortune,” I said, not bothering to hide the sarcasm in my voice.

Harold’s eyes narrowed. “You know it’s nothing for me. It was a few hundred thousand.”

I stared at him for a bit. Nothing for you isn’t it? That’s why you spent almost two hundred million on a Draethys gem.

Okay Alpha Harold, I’ll play your game.

I took the bag from him, and realized he had even gotten the color wrong.

It was a special limited edition tiger skin bag, but I specifically wanted the green one at the time. He got it in orange.

I side–eyed him from the other side of the room. “Any more presents for me Alpha?” I asked, lifting my brows.

He masked his confusion, taking a small hesitant step into the room. “No, Flourish, but I just wanted to tell you that I’ve sent orders ahead for the Luna Rite to be performed tomorrow and-”

My phone chimed. When I glanced at it, it was a small alert from the Stonehedge group chat. It read: “Beta Rowan’s widow seen having an argument with local stall vendors. How would this turn out in the end?”

The next moment, hundreds of messages flooded underneath the alert.

‘Oh my goodness, why are those women being so heartless?‘

‘They’d get what’s coming to them once Alpha Harold gets there. They really have no shame or respect.

‘Why hasn’t Alpha Harold gotten here yet? They’re literally trying to harass her for no reason.‘

I read the messages with a half smile. Phina could easily call Harold away with just one phone call, but he could ignore five fucking summons on the most important night of our lives.

“Flourish, I’m talking to you,” he called sternly, looking displeased.

“Yes Alpha? What were you talking about?” I said, crossing my arms.

He looked like he was about to explode. “I’m telling you that I’ve put preparations in place for the Luna Rite and its happening tomorrow. I don’t need—”

The sound of his phone ringing cut him off. I glanced at the caller, and sure enough, it was

Phina.

His demeanor changed so fast it made me laugh.

“Hello Phina? What’s wrong? Okay calm down and tell me what happened. I’m on my way okay? Take a deep breath and calm down.”

He stormed out of the room after, not even bothering to spare me a glance. Soon, I heard the sound of his car speeding away.

I walked to my bed and laid down, scoffing silently.

Perform the Rite? I’d rather get mated to a goblin.

After a few moments, I took a picture of the bag and sent it to my secretary, Cheryl. Along with it, I sent a message: ‘Find me the best selling price for this bag. I’ll be willing to throw in a discount for the first five bidders.’

Her message came in soon after. ‘Okay Lady Flourish.’

Afterwards, I looked around and started packing up the rest of my things I left here. Everything I had prepared in hopes of getting mated to him, all packed in cardboard boxes. I mind linked Walter and told him to come to the villa with my car, then went to Harold’s guest room and took back every single present I had ever given to him.

When I was satisfied, I grabbed my things and walked out, ignoring the questioning stares the servants were throwing at me.

Mira of course, couldn’t keep her mouth pinned. “Lady Flourish, are you heading for another trip?”

“No Mira, I’m leaving. And I probably won’t be back again.” I said, my back to her.

I heard her gasp softly, but continued on to the car, where Walter helped me put my things in the car. I got in, took a deep breath, my heart hardening. “Let’s go, Walter.”

I was done with Harold once, and I was done forever.

On the way to my cliffside residence, I received a text from an unknown number. I frowned, opening the message.
