Lady Flourish’s POV

Lydia let out a soft gasp at my words.

Selene stepped forward, her hands covering her mouth. “Flourish, do you really mean that?”

I stared at her with contempt, then at Alpha Garret and Lydia. Harold looked stunned.

I huffed, growled softly, then grabbed my bag and walked out on them. I heard the firm clink of Harold’s footsteps on the wood just as I reached my car.

“Walter, get in.” I commanded as I reached for my door handle.

But the door slammed shut as soon as I opened it, and I turned around to see Harold holding the door handle.

My wolf snarled at him. “Harold, go home and let me be. I’m hungry and tired and I can’t deal with this right now.”

His gaze darkened. “Flourish. Please let’s be rational about this. Why would say something like that?”

I folded my arms and faced him. “I’m tired, Harold.”

He reached out and took my hand. “Look, I know I wasn’t available for the Luna Rite before. But I will be for the rest of our lives once we do it tomorrow. Don’t you want that?”

I shot him a glance.

First he was being irrational, now he’s trying to be romantic?

How cute.

“I’m not interested anymore, Harold.”

I turned away from him and tried to get into my car again, but he kept his grip firm. His wolf pushed forward, his eyes glowing bright blue.

I glared at him.

“Will you just listen to me?” He growled. The next thing I knew, he lifted me off the floor, swung me over his shoulder, and started walking to his car.

I kicked and yelled and bit him, but he paid no mind. “Let me go Harold! You fucking lunatic!”

Chapter 16 First Mistake

Around me, the servants were lowering their heads while some stared. Harold growled at all of them.

The next thing I knew, Harold lowered me into the passenger seat of his car and locked the door before I could move. I glared at him from inside, my wolf howling and thrashing and pushing to come to the surface.

But I had to keep calm, whatever he thought he would say was not going to change my mind.

He got into the driver’s seat and started the engine, driving out of the villa.

He held the steering wheel for a few seconds, breathing heavily.

“Don’t try making any more arrangements for the Rite Harold, I already told you I’m done,” I said into the silence.

“That’s enough Flourish,” he bit out, turning to face me. “I have told you before Phina is my dead beta’s wife. She reminds me of him, and I owe him that devotion. She’s not replacing you!”

“Spare me that rubbish Harold. Phina isn’t your sister, she’s not your mother, she’s not related to you in any fucking way. Why are you “obligated“? Can you promise me that you’ll never speak to her again?” I said, my teeth clenched in anger.

Harold’s expression flickered, hesitation written all over his face.

I snorted.

“That’s what I thought. The way you think makes me want to drink moon blood, Harold. It’s disgusting.”

His face hardened. “You can be as disgusted as you wish. But us separating? That’s not happening.”

His wolf’s dominance filled the car, making mine whine from unease. The next thing I knew, he started speeding.

“Harold.”

He ignored me, stepping on the accelerator even more. Before I could stop it, my breathing grew faster. I hated speeding. He knew I hated speeding. My mother had died in a car accident, because my father was speeding.

I hated it so much.

“Harold!” I called more urgently. But he ignored me again.

His jaw was set, his blue eyes dark and his fists tight around the steering wheel.

He looked angry.

What right did he have to be angry?

“Harold!” I yelled this time, my wolf pushing forward against his.

He finally glanced at me. “What?”

“Slow this fucking car now or I’ll kill both of us,” I growled, my claws already peeking out under my skin. My wolf was agitated.

He stared at me for a bit, as if gauging the threat. Then he eased off accelerator, slowing the car to a reasonable speed.

I exhaled, and my stomach growled.

Perfect.

Just perfect.

“Should we stop at a restaurant?” He asked, breaking the silence.

“No.”

He sighed softly, and no one said a word until we got to Stonehedge villa. I was exhausted, and in no mood to argue anymore.
