I read the sentence again because my mind refused to process it, and my wolf reacted so violently that my claws tore through the paper before Damian gently took it from my hands.

I stared at him, unable to speak, while the truth I had just read destroyed another part of everything I thought I knew about myself.

“Say it again,” I managed.

Damian’s expression remained serious. “Your mother wrote that Garret isn’t your biological father.”

I shook my head. “That can’t be true.”

He moved closer. “We don’t know that yet.”

“But she wrote it.”

“Then we find out why.”

I looked back down at the letter. My mother’s handwriting was unmistakable, and she had written my name at the top with her own hand. She had expected me to read this someday. My wolf was confused, pacing beneath my skin.

My entire life had been built around being Garret’s daughter, and suddenly I was being told that the blood inside me belonged to someone else entirely.

“Who was my father?” I asked.

Damian looked at the remaining pages. “There should be more.”

I searched through them, and the letter continued.

Your father is someone Garret promised never to name. He belongs to the Voss bloodline, but he is not from my immediate family.

I stopped. “Voss.”

Damian nodded, and my wolf lifted her head at the word. The same bloodline responsible for the archive.

The same family connected to Stonehedge. The same family that had already appeared in every part of this investigation, over and over, until it could no longer be coincidence.

I read further.

Your father was hunted because of what he carried in his blood. If they ever discover who you are, they will come for you.

My fingers trembled around the paper. I looked at Damian. “They’ve already come for me.”

His jaw tightened. “I know.”

“Then she knew this would happen.”

“Yes.”

I lowered the letter. “Why didn’t she tell me?”

“Because she wanted you alive,” he said quietly.

I looked at him. “You think she made the right choice?”

“I think she did what she believed would protect you.”

I stepped closer to him. “What if she was wrong?”

He reached for my waist. “Then we’ll fix what she couldn’t.”

My wolf softened at his scent, and I rested my forehead against his chest. “I don’t know who I am anymore.”

His arms tightened around me. “You’re Flourish.”

I closed my eyes. “That’s not enough.”

“It is to me.”

I looked up at him, and he touched my cheek gently. “You don’t need a bloodline to tell me who you are.”

My eyes filled with tears. “Damian.”

“I’m here.”

I kissed him, and he responded immediately, holding me close while my wolf finally settled beneath my skin. The kiss was brief, but it gave me enough strength to step back and face the letter again.

There was one final page. I unfolded it slowly.

His name is-

The rest had been burned away. Only two letters remained.

Ca.

I stared at them. “Ca.”

Damian frowned. “Could be a first name.”

“Or a surname.”

My phone vibrated in my pocket. Rhys. I answered immediately. “Tell me.”

“We found Phina’s vehicle.”

“Where?”

“At the old Voss estate.”

My wolf reacted at once, restless and alert. “Is she there?”

“No.”

“What about Yvonne?”

“She’s there.”

I looked at Damian. “Yvonne is at the Voss estate.”

Rhys continued. “There’s something else.”

“What?”

“The estate’s security system recognized your scent.”

My stomach tightened. “My scent?”

“Yes.”

“How?”

“We don’t know.”

Damian’s expression hardened beside me. “We’re going there.”

Rhys went silent for a moment before he spoke again. “Boss, I don’t think you should.”

“Why?”

“The system didn’t just recognize your scent.” He took a breath. “It identified you as the primary Voss heir.”

My wolf surged so violently that I felt my eyes shift gold. I stared at Damian, and he stepped closer to me right away.

“Flourish.”

I could barely breathe. “How can a security system know that?”
