Chapter 209 Missing Bride

Lady Flourish’s POV

I woke to the sound of my own breathing and immediately realized I was no longer inside Midnight Society.

My wrists were tied behind a wooden chair, my ankles were secured, and the unfamiliar scent of damp earth filled my nose.

My wolf pushed hard against my consciousness, demanding control, but I forced myself to stay still. Panic would only make me careless, and whoever had brought me here clearly wanted me frightened.

I tested the ropes carefully, and they were reinforced with wolfsbane treated fibers. The moment my skin brushed against them, a sharp sting traveled up my arms and my wolf recoiled. I clenched my teeth and stopped moving.

“Good,” a voice said from somewhere behind me.

I turned my head as far as I could, but the room was too dark to see clearly. My heart began beating faster when I recognized the scent that followed the voice. I knew it, but I couldn’t place it yet.

“Who are you?”

The figure stepped closer, and I saw a man’s boots first, then the outline of a tall body. “You really should have listened when you were warned.”

My fingers curled against the ropes. “Warned about what?”

He gave a quiet laugh. “About marrying Alpha Damian.”

The words sent a cold sensation through my chest. So this was not about F-Tech alone. It was about Damian.

My wolf growled. “Let me go.”

The man crouched in front of me, though he stayed mostly hidden beneath the hood of his cloak. “You were never supposed to become his Luna, Flourish.”

I stared at him. “Who sent you?”

He didn’t answer. Instead he reached into his pocket and pulled out a phone, and my stomach tightened when he turned the screen toward me.

It showed a photograph of Damian standing outside Midnight Society, surrounded by Stonehedge warriors, his face hard with fury.

“He’ll come for you,” the man said.

I swallowed. “I know.”

The stranger’s eyes narrowed. “You sound very confident.”

“I know my husband.”

The word came out before I could reconsider it, and my wolf responded immediately, the bond between Damian and me stirring beneath my skin.

I couldn’t hear his thoughts, but I felt the faint pressure of his Alpha presence somewhere beyond the walls. He was looking for me. That knowledge gave me enough strength to sit up straighter.

The man noticed. “You really believe he can save you?”

“I don’t need to believe it,” I said, staring directly into the darkness beneath his hood. “I know he will.”

His jaw tightened, and for the first time I sensed something like uncertainty from him. Then he stood.

“You have no idea what you’re involved in.”

He turned toward the door, and I waited until his hand touched the handle before speaking. “You’re working for someone inside Stonehedge.”

He stopped.

My pulse quickened. “You used Ragnar’s credentials because you wanted Damian to suspect his own family.” I continued before he could interrupt. “Then you attacked F-Tech to make me look vulnerable.” Silence answered me. “And you took me from the wedding because you wanted Damian distracted.”

He slowly turned around, and I watched his face emerge from beneath the hood. My breath caught. I knew him, not well, but enough. He had been one of the senior warriors assigned to Stonehedge’s eastern territory.

“You.”

His expression changed. “Now you understand.”

My wolf snarled. “You betrayed the pack.”

His face stayed cold. “I serve someone more powerful than the pack.”

Before I could ask who, the door opened behind him and another man entered. This time the scent was unmistakable, and my wolf reacted violently. I had smelled it before, and the realization made my blood run cold.

The second man removed his hood, and I stared at him as he smiled.

“Hello, Lady Flourish.”

I knew him too. He was one of Ragnar’s most trusted executive aides, the same man Damian had been told had disappeared.
