I remained standing beside Damian because the moment the scout mentioned Flourish’s name, every instinct inside me sharpened.
The hall smelled of blood, fear, and restrained wolf aggression, and even the younger warriors near the doors had begun shifting their weight as though expecting another attack.
Alpha Magnus rose slowly. “No one leaves this hall.”
His Alpha command rolled through the room, and every wolf obeyed immediately. I watched Damian turn toward Flourish, and for the first time since he had entered the hall, his calm expression disappeared.
His eyes darkened, his jaw tightened, and the beast beneath his skin pushed hard enough that I could see the faint change in his pupils.
“Are you hurt?” he asked her.
Flourish shook her head. “No.”
He reached for her hand, and she let him take it. The sight irritated me more than it should
have.
Phina moved closer to my side. “Harold.”
I looked at her. She was pale, her fingers trembling slightly.
“What?”
She lowered her voice. “Why would they target Flourish?”
I had no answer, but I had noticed something else. Damian didn’t look surprised. He looked angry, and there was a real difference between the two.
An Alpha who was surprised would ask questions. An Alpha who was angry already suspected
someone.
“Damian,” Magnus said.
Damian turned. “You will take your warriors and secure the eastern corridor.”
“I will.”

Magnus’s gaze hardened. “And Flourish stays here.”
“No.”
His answer came immediately, and Magnus’s brows lowered. “I wasn’t asking.”
“Neither was I.”

The wolves around us stiffened. Damian stepped closer to Flourish, his body positioning itself between her and everyone else in the room.
“Whoever attacked the border knew her name.” His voice stayed controlled, though his wolf was clearly close to the surface. “That means this isn’t a random border raid.”
Elder Marwin stepped forward. “Then you believe someone inside Stonehedge gave them information?”
Damian’s eyes swept across the room. “Yes.”
A murmur passed through the guests. My stomach tightened at the word. An insider. That changed everything. If an enemy knew about Flourish, they knew enough about our family to understand that targeting her would provoke Damian. It also meant the attack could be connected to everything that had already happened.
Phina spoke suddenly. “Perhaps they are targeting her because of Dartwood.”
Everyone looked at her, and her expression changed under the attention. “I only mean that Damian is a powerful Alpha, and his enemies may want to hurt him through his wife.”
Damian looked at her coldly. “Do not speculate when we have no evidence.”
Her lips parted. “I was only trying to help.”
Flourish finally looked at her. “Then help by staying quiet until we know the truth.”
The words came out calm, but the room reacted anyway, and Phina’s face reddened. I stared at Flourish. She was different now.
The woman who once avoided confrontation was standing beside one of the strongest Alphas in the region without lowering her eyes for anyone.
Damian’s fingers tightened around hers, and a quiet growl escaped his chest, low enough that only the wolves standing nearby could hear it.
Flourish looked up at him. “Damian.”
His expression softened. “I’m fine.”

She shook her head. “You aren’t.”
His lips moved into the faintest smile. “I’m fine because you’re standing here.”
My wolf reacted painfully to those words, and I looked away. I had once heard Flourish speak to me that way, or perhaps I had only imagined that she someday would.
The difference mattered now. I had chosen Phina. I had lost Flourish. And Damian had gained what I had thrown away without ever fully understanding its worth.
Alpha Magnus suddenly slammed his palm against the table. “Enough.”
The room went silent.
“We have an enemy inside our territory.” His gaze moved across every Alpha, Beta, warrior, and family member present. “Until we identify them, no one leaves Stonehedge without authorization.”
A warrior stepped forward. “Alpha, what about the wedding?”
Magnus’s expression hardened. “The celebration continues.”
Several people looked stunned. “Continue?”
He nodded. “If the enemy expects us to panic, we will give them nothing.”
Damian understood immediately, and he leaned toward Flourish. “You stay beside me.”
