I Refuse To Be Your Luna

Chapter 252 The Voice Below

Lady Flourish POV

Harold took another step toward the opening, but Magnus caught his shoulder.

“Wait. We don’t know what’s coming up.”

The hand tightened around the stone ledge. Harold raised his weapon, and the guards shifted into position, ready to pull whoever was below into the chamber.

I stayed behind them, watching as a second hand appeared beside the first.

“Harry,” the voice called again.

Harold’s face changed. He lowered his weapon slightly, then looked at Magnus.

“Give him room,” he ordered.

The guards moved back a few steps. Rhys joined Harold at the edge, crouching to get a better look into the passage.

“Can you hear us?” Rhys called.

A weak groan came from below.

“Pull him up,” Harold said.

Rhys and two guards reached down. They caught the person beneath the arms and hauled him toward the surface.

His boots scraped against the stone, and he cried out when they lifted him over the edge.

The man collapsed onto the floor.

I recognized the uniform first. It belonged to a Stonehedge warrior, though his jacket was torn and dark with blood. His face was swollen, and one side of his head had been cut open. His breathing came in short, uneven bursts.

“Get the healer,” Magnus ordered.

One of the guards hurried out.

Harold crouched beside the wounded warrior. “Can you hear me?”

The man’s eyes opened briefly. He tried to speak, but only a rough sound came out,

“Easy,” Rhys said. “You’re back inside the estate.”

The warrior gripped Rhys’s sleeve. His fingers were trembling.

“Who did this to you?” Harold asked.

The man swallowed. “They’re… still down there.”

Harold glanced toward the opening. “How many?”

“I don’t know.”

“Where did you come from?”

The warrior’s gaze moved around the chamber as if he didn’t recognize it. Then his on Magnus.

“Tunnel,” he whispered. “They took me through the tunnel.”

Magnus knelt on his other side. “Which tunnel?”

“I don’t know. There were doors. Codes.” He struggled to breathe. “They knew the codes.”

Rhys exchanged a look with Harold.

“How did they get the security codes?” Rhys asked. “Did you see anyone enter them?”

The warrior shook his head, then winced at the movement.

“They had a device,” he said. “One of them carried it.”

“What kind of device?”

“I don’t know. It had a mark on it.”

My attention sharpened, “What mark?”

The warrior looked toward me. His eyes widened slightly, and he tried to lift his hand.

“The same one,” he whispered.

“Same as what?”

“The clothes. The woman’s clothes.”

My stomach tightened. Elara’s clothing had carried a symbol we’d found in the tunnels. The

creature beneath Stonehedge had left the same mark in its blood.

“What did the people carrying it look like?” I asked.

Harold turned toward me. “Flourish, give him a moment.”

“He might not have much time.”

The warrior’s hand moved weakly against the floor. “They didn’t come through the main entrance.”

“Did they say where they were going?” Magnus asked.

The man shook his head. His gaze returned to me, and the ancient markings around the broken floor began to glow again.

Warmth spread through my wrist. I looked down and saw the light running along the stone nearest my feet.

“Flourish,” Harold said.

“I feel it.”

The ward markings brightened, reaching toward the opening. The guards noticed and tightened their formation, while the elders backed farther away from the chamber’s center.

Magnus stood. “Clear the room. Everyone out except the guards, Rhys, Harold, and the healer.”

A few council members protested, but Magnus raised his voice.

“This chamber is no longer safe. Move.”

The elders began filing toward the exit. The lawyer kept close to the warrior who had taken the financial records, checking that the folder was still secure.

“Don’t lose those documents,” I told him.

“I won’t.”

Rhys moved to the edge of the opening and studied the glowing markings.

“We need to secure this entrance,” he said. “But if we damage the wards, we could make the whole passage unstable.”

“Then don’t damage them,” Magnus replied. “Find another way.”

“I’ll need the old system plans.”

“Get them from the archive.”

Rhys signaled two warriors to help him. They began checking the wall panels and the nearby security console, looking for a way to seal the passage without interfering with the ward stones.

Harold turned back to me.

“You’re leaving with the council.”

“No.”

“Flourish.”

“I’m staying until he answers the questions.”

“You’re not a healer, and you can’t help him by standing here.”

“I can ask him what he saw. That’s more than we have right now.”

Harold’s expression hardened. His Alpha aura pressed against the room, making the nearest guards straighten. I felt the force of it, but I didn’t step away.

“Don’t use your aura on me,” I told him.

“I’m trying to keep you safe.”

“And I’m trying to find out why someone is using the tunnels beneath our home.”

For a moment, neither of us spoke. Then Harold looked away and called for one of the guards to remain beside me.

The healer arrived with a medical kit and dropped to his knees beside the wounded warrior. He checked the man’s pulse, examined the injury on his head, and asked him to follow a light with

his eyes.

“His condition is serious,” the healer said. “I need to move him to the clinic.”

“Can he answer a few more questions?” I asked.

“Briefly. Don’t push him.”

I crouched beside the warrior. “You said they had a device with the symbol from Elara’s clothing. Did they use it to open the tunnels?”

His lips parted, but no answer came.
