The visitor stopped with his hand inside his coat. Two guards stood on either side of him, weapons raised. Harold had moved in front of Eugene, while Rhys watched the man’s every
movement.
“Slowly,” Rhys said. “Take it out slowly.”
The visitor’s fingers emerged holding a folded document. He kept his other hand raised as he placed the paper on the conference table.
“It’s proof,” he said. “The shell company paid for access to Stonehedge’s restricted territory.”
No one lowered their weapon.
I stayed beside the table, watching his face as Rhys approached the document.
The visitor looked pale, and the scent of fear coming off him was strong enough for pick up.
Beneath it, I caught the stale smell of sweat and something metallic.
Rhys put on a pair of gloves before unfolding the paper.

It contained several entries, dates, payment references, and a list of locations marked within Stonehedge’s restricted grounds.
“Where did you get this?” he asked.
“From the account I was instructed to use.”
Eugene leaned forward. “Who instructed you?”
“I’ve already told you. I represent the company.”
“That wasn’t my question.” Eugene pointed at the document. “Who owns the company?”
The man’s eyes moved briefly toward the door. “I don’t know him personally,”
“You expect us to believe you handled payments for a company without knowing who owned it?”

“I never met the registered owner. I received instructions through an encrypted account. That was all.”
Harold’s jaw tightened. His Alpha aura pressed into the room, making the guards straighten.
The visitor’s shoulders rose, and he swallowed before speaking again.
“Did the account belong to anyone in your family?” Harold asked.
The man hesitated.
I looked at Harold. He had gone very still, but the muscles in his neck stood out beneath his collar.
His wolf was close to the surface. I could sense it in the pressure of his aura, though he kept his hands flat on the table.
“Answer him,” Rhys said.
“The instructions came from a former Stonehedge official,” the visitor admitted.
“Which official?” I asked.
He looked at me, then at Harold. “I can’t say.”
“You came here asking for Harold specifically,” I reminded him. “You brought evidence about restricted territory, and now you’re refusing to name the person who sent you.”
“I need protection first.”
Harold gave a short, humorless laugh. “You want protection without telling us what you’ve done?”
“I’m telling you what I can.”
“No,” Harold said. “You’re telling us what you think will keep you alive.”
The visitor’s face flushed. “You don’t understand what these people can do.”
“Then help us understand.”
“I can’t risk it.”
Harold’s aura grew heavier. The visitor shifted his weight, and one of the guards stepped closer.
I lifted my hand before the situation could turn into another standoff.

“We can have our legal team record your statement,” I said. “You’ll be able to explain what happened, and we can arrange security while the investigation continues.”
The visitor looked at me with suspicion. “And if the people I’m naming come after me?”
“Then we’ll have a record of what you told us and a security plan in place. I’m not promising you immunity, and I’m not asking you to trust us blindly. But you won’t be left alone while we verify what you say.”
Eugene nodded. “Any statement will be documented. We can also establish what protection can legally be offered.”
The man’s gaze returned to Harold.
Harold’s expression remained hard. “I won’t promise you anything before I know your role in this.”
“I didn’t arrange the payments,” the visitor said quickly. “I passed information and followed instructions. I didn’t know what the access was being used for.”
“Then tell us who gave you those instructions,” I said.
He rubbed his palms against his trousers, then glanced toward the guards again. His breathing had become uneven. The scent of fear was sharper now, and my wolf urged me to keep my distance.
“The name,” Rhys said. “We need it.”
The visitor lowered his eyes to the document.
“Councilor Voss,” he said. “He was a security adviser in Stonehedge before he left office.”
Harold’s head turned toward Rhys. “Do we have that name in the company records?”
Rhys was already checking the information on his tablet. He compared the document’s payment references with the registration details he had found earlier.
The room stayed quiet except for the tapping of his fingers against the screen.
“Give me a moment.”
The visitor’s gaze kept moving between us. I noticed his hand twitch near the edge of the table, but he didn’t reach for anything. The guards remained ready.
Rhys stopped typing.
“It matches,” he said. “Voss’s name appears in the records linked to the shell company. The
