Harold stopped in front of him, his shoulders squared. Rhys was already approaching from the other end of the hallway, while Eugene stepped out of his office and signaled to the receptionist.
“Please bring him into the conference room,” Eugene said. “He won’t be walking around the office.”
The man glanced at the guards beside Harold. “I’ll speak to him privately.”
“That won’t be happening,” Harold replied.
The visitor’s gaze shifted to me, then back to Harold. He looked to be in his forties, wearing a dark coat over a plain shirt. His hands remained in his pockets.
“Who are you?” Harold asked.
“A representative of the company you’ve been investigating.”
“Name?”
“I’ll provide it when the guards leave.”
Harold’s wolf pressed against his skin. I felt the change in the air, and the guards straightened as his Alpha aura spread through the hallway.
“You’re in a law office,” Harold said. “You don’t get private access to anyone here. If you have something to say, you can say it with the guards present.”
The man’s mouth tightened. “I came to speak to the Stonehedge Alpha.”
“And you’re speaking to him.”
Eugene gestured toward the conference room again. “Let’s continue this conversation inside. You can explain why you’re here, and we can establish your identity.”
The visitor hesitated before following us. Harold stayed close behind him, while I walked beside Eugene, Rhys remained in the hallway long enough to speak with the receptionist, then joined us with his tablet.
Inside the conference room, the visitor took a seat but kept his coat on. He looked around the

“Let’s start with your name,” Eugene said.

The man gave it, then added that he represented one of the shell companies linked to the tunnel investigation.
“Do you have identification?” Eugene asked.
“Not with me.”
“Then how do we verify that you represent the company?”
“I can explain what I know.”
“That isn’t verification.”
The man turned toward Harold. “I have information about the underground network. I thought it would be better to deliver it directly to the Stonehedge Alpha.”
“Why?” I asked. “Why not contact our legal team?”
“I didn’t know who I could trust.”
“You came to a legal office and refused to identify yourself.”
“I’m here now, aren’t I?”
Eugene opened the folder he had brought from his office. “You claim to represent a company connected to these payments. Can you explain why it paid for vehicles and equipment used near Stonehedge?”
The visitor looked down at the documents but didn’t touch them.
“I wasn’t involved in those transactions.”
“Then what information do you have?”
“I know the company was used by people who wanted access to the tunnels.”
“Who?” Eugene asked.
The man glanced toward the door.
Harold leaned forward. “Stop looking at the hallway and answer the question.”
“I don’t know their names.”

“Then tell us what you do know.”
The visitor pressed his lips together. He appeared ready to speak, but his attention shifted again when someone passed outside the room.
Rhys placed his tablet on the table.
“I’ve checked the company’s registration,” he said. “The records connect it to a name associated with Harold’s family.”
Harold’s expression hardened. “Which name?”
Rhys turned the screen toward him. “The registration information is here. The company was filed under a name linked to your family records.”
The visitor moved in his chair.
Harold noticed. “Who sent you?”
“No one.”
“You came to a law office, asked specifically for me, refused to identify yourself, and claim you have information about an underground network. You expect me to believe you came on your
own?”
“I did.”
“Then tell us why.”
“I wanted to speak to you directly.”
“About what?”
“The tunnels.”
“That’s not an answer.”
The man looked down at the table. Eugene waited, pen in hand, but the visitor didn’t add anything.
I leaned forward. “Do you know anything about Elara?”
His face changed.
It was brief, but I saw it. His eyes widened, and he drew a quick breath before looking away.
