Chapter 265 Under Siege
Alpha Harold POV
“They’re moving deeper underground.”

Rhys’s words were still hanging in the room when I turned to the nearest warrior.

“Seal every entrance to the lower levels. Nobody goes in or out without my order.”
The warrior bowed his head and shifted before running toward the eastern corridor. His wolf took over almost instantly, claws striking the stone as he disappeared through the doorway.
I looked around the council chamber. Broken furniture covered the floor, blood marked the stone near the entrance, and the scent of unfamiliar wolves remained thick in the air.
Flourish stood beside Rhys, her attention fixed on the map displayed on the terminal.
“Stay here,” I told Rhys. “Keep the chamber secure and stay with Flourish.”
He looked at me. “You’re going after them?”
“I’m going to find out what they’re after.”
Flourish stepped forward. “Harold-”
“I need you here.”
Her expression hardened, but before she could answer, another warrior rushed into the chamber.
“Alpha.”
He dropped to one knee.
“Report.”
“We have movement along the northern boundary. Three wolves were spotted near the old watch road. They withdrew when the patrol approached.”
“Any injuries?”
“None.”
Another warrior entered behind him.

“Western boundary too. Two scouts crossed the outer ward and disappeared before our patrol could reach them.”
My wolf growled.
The scents were spreading across Stonehedge, but none of the attackers were pushing toward the estate in large numbers. They were moving around us, watching us.
“Put the northern patrol on rotating shifts,” I ordered. “No fixed pattern. Increase the western watch and keep two trackers behind every patrol.”
The warrior nodded.
“And tell them not to chase anyone beyond the ward line.”
He left.
A third report came through the pack link before the door even closed.
‘Movement near the southern ridge.
I closed my eyes for a second.
“Send backup.”
The response came almost immediately.
‘Already done, Alpha.’
I opened my eyes.
Our wolves were ready, but the problem wasn’t strength. It was information.
They knew where our patrols were.
They knew when the guards changed.
They knew how quickly our warriors responded when an outer ward was disturbed.
That knowledge did not belong to an outsider.
Someone had given it to them.
“Rhys.”
He looked up.

“Pull the last thirty days of patrol schedules.”
“I can do that.”
“Compare them with the movements we’re seeing tonight.”
He understood what I meant.

If the attackers were testing our response times, the pattern would show up in the logs.

My wolf paced beneath my skin, reacting to every unfamiliar scent that reached the chamber. One came from the north. Another from the west. A third was faint, almost lost beneath the blood and smoke.
They were everywhere.
But they weren’t attacking together.
They were measuring us.
Rhys’s fingers moved quickly across the terminal.
“Harold.”
I turned.
His face had changed.
“What?”
“There’s another breach.”
“Where?”
“The eastern records wing.”
My stomach tightened.
“What records?”
He looked at Flourish, then back at me.
“The oldest ones.”
I didn’t need him to explain further.
The records wing held documents that predated most of the current Stonehedge council. Old

“How many warriors?”
“Four guards were stationed there.”

“Were?”
Rhys looked at the security feed.
“Their signals dropped three minutes ago.”
I grabbed my jacket from the back of a chair.
“I’m going.”
Flourish followed me to the doorway.
“Harold.”
I stopped.
“You said stay here.”
“I said you needed to stay with Rhys. You have Rhys.”
She looked like she wanted to argue, but the next report came through the pack link.
‘Eastern wing is clear. No hostile wolves visible.
That made my decision easier.
“Lock this chamber,” I told Rhys. “Nobody approaches Flourish without your approval.”
He nodded.
I shifted before reaching the corridor,
My wolf surged forward, and the change tore through me in seconds. I landed on four paws and followed the scent trail toward the eastern wing with six warriors behind me.
The estate was in chaos.
Warriors moved through the halls in groups while guards checked every entrance. The old wards hummed beneath the stone, responding to the number of wolves moving across the

property.
As we reached the eastern corridor, the smell changed.
Dust.
Old paper.
Blood.
And strangers.
I slowed near the records wing.
The door had been forced open.
“Spread out,” I ordered through the pack link.
The warriors separated.
I shifted back and pulled on my trousers before entering.

The room looked as though someone had torn through it in a hurry, but the damage didn’t match a normal attack.
Cabinet doors hung open.
Files had been pulled from shelves and left on the floor.
Old boxes had been opened.
But almost nothing was missing.
“They weren’t stealing,” one warrior said.
“No.”
I crouched beside an open cabinet.
Someone had searched through the records one by one.
They knew what they wanted. I stood and scanned the room.
Then I noticed the bookshelf at the far end.One section had been pushed aside.
The stone floor beneath it was exposed. A narrow opening had been forced into the ground.

I walked toward it.
“Alpha,” one of the warriors warned.
I raised a hand.
He stopped.
The passage below was dark, but a fresh scent drifted upward.
Wolf.
I drew my claws.
Then footsteps came from the passage.
My warriors raised their weapons. A man stepped into view.
