Chapter 66 Four Days Left
dy Flourish’s POV
.
Panic rose in my chest. It was just a D&F project. Surely the CEO didn’t need to join a group chaf personally, I stared at the two letters on my screen, my wolf shifting uneasily, before Rhys suddenly slapped his thigh.
“That’s right!”
The crack made me jump. He pointed at my phone. “Lady Flourish, this DV has the same nickname as your ex, right?”
My heart stopped for half a second. “Rhys, when did I ever say that guy was my boyfriend? They aren’t every the same person.”
He laughed immediately. “Oh, right. Definitely not.” He scratched his head. “Yours had that starry sky picture. This one’s got a little moon. I’m getting old, my memory’s slipping.”
I looked down. The starry sky picture was gone. A plain white moon sat in its place. My wolf buried her face in her paws.
I turned the phone facedown on my desk and didn’t dare open the chat again, afraid of what my face might give away if I saw another message from that account.
Rhys, oblivious, tagged Peter in the chat. Mr. Peter, all three of us are ready and updated our names. Reach out with anything work related.
Peter replied almost instantly. Understood. The one who joined us is Alpha Damian. Looking forward to working with everyone.
Cheryl sucked in a breath. “Alpha Damian? That moon picture is his? I really didn’t expect that.” She smiled. “He looks so cold in person but his profile picture’s actually cute.”
“Maybe he’s one of those cold outside, warm underneath types,” Rhys said, chuckling.
My fingers tightened under the desk. Warm. My wolf remembered his scent instantly, his voice, the way his presence had calmed her in the car. I pushed the thought away.
Rhys straightened his tie. “Be careful what you say in there. Most people have their names and numbers listed. Anything important, just call directly.” Everyone nodded, and the afternoon disappeared into reports. calls, and approvals until the workday was nearly over.
I packed up while Cheryl stayed to finish something. “I’ve got somewhere to be tonight, heading out first.”
“No problem, Lady Flourish.”
The moment I left my desk my mood shifted. Seven o’clock. Stonehedge Villa. I’d promised Harold that morning and I meant to keep it. One way or another, this needed to end.
I still felt uneasy looking at elevators after yesterday. For one ridiculous second I considered the stairs, then remembered we were on the eighteenth floor.
My wolf rejected that idea instantly, and suddenly the elevator seemed perfectly reasonable.

Chapter 56 Pour Days Left
My phone rang in the lobby, Lydia.
“Flourish,” I answered.
“My car happened to be passing your office,” she said, unusually cheerful. I was going to give this to you next time, but since I’m already here, I brought it”
“What is it?”
“Nothing much. Went to Montreal, picked up some bone broth supplements for you. You never come home and you live alone, figured you could use them.”
My wolf huffed. “You don’t need to do that, Lydia. Save them for Selene. We have plenty at home?
“Just come take them. I’m parked by the road. Black car.”
The call ended and I stared at the phone a second, something about her tone bothering me. I tried a mind link. Rejected. My wolf went restless. Lydia had never rejected my link before.
I went out anyway. The black sedan was easy to spot, and she waved the second she saw me. “Flourish! Over here!”
She looked too pleased. When I reached the car she handed me a shopping bag. “Check the instructions. Call if you’re unsure how to use them.”
“Okay. Thanks.” I turned to go.
“Oh?” Her voice stopped me. She narrowed her eyes. “Why is there something dirty on your face?”
Before I could answer she pulled out a handkerchief. My wolf recoiled and I stepped back, but not fast enough. The cloth brushed the tip of my nose.
Everything changed at once. A violent howl tore through my mind, my vision spun, the pavement tilted under my feet and my knees buckled.
“Flourish?” Lydia caught my arm, her grip far stronger than it should have been. My wolf thrashed inside me, clawing to keep me conscious.
“What.” My tongue felt thick and useless.
“Are your flare ups acting up again?” she asked, and I tried pulling away and couldn’t. She steered me toward the car, my legs refusing to cooperate. The rear door opened, I was pushed in, and it slammed shut behind
My heart hammered. My wolf howled again, louder, fighting whatever was moving through my body. I dug my nails into my palm hard enough to hurt, and for one brief second my vision cleared.
I looked at Lydia. “What are you planning this time?”
Her lips curved. “Relax. I just want to make sure you’re home before the Luna Rite.”
My wolf surged so hard the driver glanced back. “I already said I’m not mating Harold. What is your problem?”
