I Refuse To Be Your Luna (Flourish and Harold) novel Chapter 76

Chapter 76 Judging Eyes

Lady Flourish’s POV

From where I stood, I could see the confusion written all over Devina’s face.

For a moment, she genuinely seemed unable to tell whether Alpha Magnus was furious at Harold or Damian.

Then, without missing a beat, she flashed me a subtle thumbs-up.

I nearly laughed. The next second, she slipped a small pill into Magnus’s mouth with practiced

ease.

“Grandpa, don’t get angry,” she said quickly, patting his shoulder. “Getting worked up will only make you feel worse. Are you dizzy anywhere? I can press your temples if you want.”

Her voice was soft and caring.

Unfortunately, it only seemed to make the veins on Alpha Magnus’s forehead bulge harder.

“Devina!”

His growl carried enough force to make several nearby guests flinch.”You knew about this all along, didn’t you?”

His eyes blazed as he glared at her.

Devina immediately raised both hands in surrender. “How could I?” She looked completely innocent. “Grandpa, Harold is the one who screwed up. You can’t blame me for his mess.”

Not a chance. She wasn’t about to become Harold’s shield.

The old Alpha looked like he might actually cough up blood.

Meanwhile, all the color had drained from Phina’s face.

She stood frozen in place, her fingers twisted tightly into the fabric of her dress while her lips trembled faintly.

The whispers around her were becoming impossible to ignore.

Everyone was staring.

Everyone was judging.

Everyone knew.

Slowly, she turned toward Daciana. Her eyes were already red. “Aunt Daciana…”

The words had barely left her mouth before Daciana shot her a venomous glare. “Enough.”

Phina instantly fell silent, and not another word escaped her lips.

Nearby, Ragnar’s face was so dark it looked as though a storm cloud had settled over his head. Both he and Daciana had been completely blindsided.

Yes, they knew I wanted to cancel the Luna Rite.

Yes, they knew there had been disagreements. But neither of them had expected this. Nobody had expected this.

Especially not Damian’s public blessing.

The moment he raised that glass and congratulated Harold and Phina, he had essentially confirmed every rumor circulating through the hall.

There was no putting that genie back into the bottle.

No explanation would ever sound convincing now.

The ceremony that should have been remembered as a glorious union ended in less than thirty minutes.

No celebration.

No joy.

No dignity.

Only damage control. Guests began leaving in waves. Conversations buzzed through the hall like angry hornets.

By the time most people departed, Harold finally turned toward me.

His eyes were bloodshot.

The look on his face was one of pure disbelief. As though he still couldn’t comprehend what had happened. As though he couldn’t comprehend what I had done.

“Are you satisfied now?” His voice came out low and dangerous. His wolf pushed against the surface, restless and furious.

Fortunately, he was still rational enough to know we couldn’t fight here.

Not in front of everyone, the elders, or Magnus.

I smiled faintly. “Well.” I tilted my head. “I’m pretty satisfied.”

His expression darkened.

I continued calmly. “What about you?” “You finally proposed to the beloved widow you’ve been obsessing over for years.”

My smile widened slightly. “Shouldn’t you be ecstatic?”

Every word landed like a knife. Because every word was true. The truth was ugly, and truth was humiliating, but the truth should never have seen the light of day.

Yet now it sat in the center of the banquet hall for everyone to see.

Harold’s jaw clenched. For the first time, I saw something close to panic flash through his eyes. He truly hadn’t expected me to expose everything.

The Virel family’s reputation had suffered. That much was obvious. But Garrett’s losses were even greater.

The alliance he had worked so hard to secure was hanging by a thread.

The partnership agreements.

The business opportunities.

The political backing.

Everything had been built on this union.

Now?

Nobody knew whether any of it would survive. Garrett’s face cycled through several shades of red and white.

Finally, he snapped. “Flourish!” His roar echoed through the nearly empty hall. “Have you completely lost your mind?”

His Alpha pressure surged. “Do you have any idea where you are?”

“Do you understand who you’ve just offended?”

I met his furious stare without the slightest fear. A faint mocking smile touched my lips. “Of

course I do.”

My voice was dangerously calm. “Weren’t you the one who forced me to come today?”

His expression froze.

I took another step forward. “You threatened to have me dragged here if I refused.”

“You wanted me to show up.” I spread my hands. “Well.”

“I’m here.” My gaze sharpened. “So why are you angry now?”
