Chapter 82 The Last Goodbye
Lady Flourish’s POV
Fitted
I spent the entire day running from one place to another, leaving me too exhausted to care about the chaos erupting online after the Luna Rite.
The world could argue about who had embarrassed whom. It could speculate about Harold, Phina, or me all it wanted. None of it mattered anymore.
The only thing that mattered was Grandma.
After leaving the hospital, I headed straight to my accountant’s office.
“I want to withdraw from my savings account,” I said quietly as I slid the documents across the desk.
My accountant adjusted his glasses before looking through the figures.
“Lady Flourish, are you certain? Once we process this, you’ll be touching almost everything you’ve saved over the years.”
“I’m sure.”
He nodded before opening another folder.
“If you’re willing to use your savings as collateral, we can also arrange a loan of up to one million. I’ve already calculated your income. Even with the monthly repayments, you’ll still be able to manage comfortably.”
I lowered my eyes to the figures in front of me.
A million… It was enough.
“Process it.”
He looked at me one last time, almost as though he wanted to make sure I wouldn’t regret it.
“The approval should be immediate. The funds will arrive within a week.”
“Thank you.”
By the time I walked out of the office, the weight pressing on my shoulders had eased ever so slightly.
Between the money I had saved and the loan, I could afford Grandma’s medical expenses, a

professional caregiver, and all the nutritional supplements she would need for at least a year.
I didn’t need Garett anymore.
Not a single cent.
From today onward, it would just be Grandma and me.
I would work harder.
Twice as hard if I had to.
As long as she stayed with me, I believed everything would eventually get better.
At exactly three in the morning, my phone rang. The shrill ringtone shattered the silence of my apartment.
The moment I saw the hospital’s number, my heart skipped violently.
“Lady Flourish…” The nurse’s anxious voice came through. “Please come to the hospital immediately. Lady Josephine’s condition has suddenly deteriorated.”
For a brief moment, my entire world stopped.
I couldn’t remember how I grabbed my keys. I couldn’t remember locking the apartment door. I couldn’t even remember the drive to the hospital.
By the time I arrived, my hands were trembling so violently that I could barely hold onto my phone.
My wolf howled inside me without stopping.
It was as though she already knew.
As though she had sensed something I desperately refused to believe.
Grandma was already being rushed into the operating room when I reached the corridor.
The bright red emergency light flashed overhead.
My chest tightened so painfully that it felt as though a black hole had opened inside me, swallowing every ounce of strength I had left.
A nurse hurried out a few moments later with several sheets of paper in her hands.
“Lady Flourish. This is the notice of critical condition. Please sign here.”

My fingers shook so badly that my signature came out crooked. I handed the papers back before grabbing the nurse’s wrist.
“How… how is my grandma?”
Seeing the panic in my eyes, the nurse softened her voice.
“Please don’t worry. Our team will do everything possible to save her.”
She gave me a reassuring nod before disappearing behind the operating room doors once more. The corridor fell silent again.
Three o’clock.
Four.
Five.
Six.
The sky outside gradually brightened.
Doctors and nurses passed me countless times, but I remained seated in the exact same spot.
I didn’t cry loudly, but the tears simply kept falling one after another.
By the time the clock reached seven minutes past nine, the operating room doors finally opened.
I stood so quickly that my vision blurred.
The healer slowly removed his surgical mask, his eyes filled with pity. “I’m sorry, Lady Flourish. We did everything we could. Patient Lady Josephine Garrett…”
He lowered his head slightly. “Time of death, 9:07 a.m. Cause of death… Cardiac failure accompanied by complete wolf failure.”
The words struck me harder than any blade ever could.
My knees buckled beneath me.
If the nurse beside me hadn’t caught my arm, I would have collapsed onto the floor.
“I’m so sorry, Lady Flourish. There is a lot of paperwork that will need to be completed. You should notify your family.”
Family…

The word sounded strangely unfamiliar.
I tightened my grip on the nurse’s sleeve. “Please…” My voice cracked before I could finish. “I want to see my grandma.”
The nurse nodded gently. “We’ll bring her back to her room shortly.”
I waited without moving.
A few minutes later, the doors opened again, and Grandma was wheeled out beneath a spotless white sheet.
I stumbled after the bed until it stopped inside the room.
Then I slowly dropped to my knees beside her.
My hands rested on the edge of the mattress. I wanted to lift the white sheet.
I truly wanted to. But I couldn’t. I wasn’t ready.
I wasn’t ready to accept that the woman who had smiled at me only days ago…
The woman who had loved me more than
anyone else in this world…
Was gone forever.
The pain inside my chest became unbearable. It felt as though an invisible hand had reached into my body and torn my heart apart.
I couldn’t breathe. My lungs desperately searched for air that refused to come.
“Grandma…” The word escaped as nothing more than a broken whisper.
I leaned against the side of the bed as sobs shook my entire body. Memories flooded without mercy.
“Flourish, come here. Grandma will tell you a story.”
“Flourish, don’t cry.”
“If your father can’t give you the love you deserve, then Grandma will.”
“You have me.”

“You’ll never be less than anyone else.”
“Flourish, these five percent shares are for you. I don’t know how valuable they’ll become in the future, but they’ll always be your foundation.”
“A woman should always have something she can rely on.”
“If you don’t want to become his Luna, then don’t.”
“Your happiness matters more than anything else.”
“No matter what choice you make…”
“I’ll always stand behind you.”
Every memory became another knife twisting deeper into my heart. I felt as though I were drowning beneath an endless ocean.
