Chapter 10

Julian Vance looked up sharply, only to be backed against the edge of the bed by Serena.

She pressed down on his shoulders and let out a cold laugh.

“Julian Vance, you’re just an illegitimate Alpha. What gives you the right to be so arrogant? You only got this far because the Former Alpha paved the way for you. Without Richard, you’re nothing.”

“I’m a Thorne pureblood. Isn’t it a blessing from the Moon Goddess that I’ve taken an interest in you?”

How dare you reject me?”

“On what grounds?”

Julian casually straightened his messy collar, looking down with a flat, detached expression.

“True. I don’t think I’m good enough for you, Serena. So, once the alliance agreement between the Blood Moon and your father’s pack expires, we’ll go our separate ways.”

“No!” Serena snapped. “There isn’t a mate I want and can’t have.”

Serena steeled her resolve and stepped forward again.

Julian tried to stop her, but his body suddenly went limp. He had no strength in his limbs.

“Serena… did you… drug me? When!”

Serena ran a hand through her cascading hair, her usual dignified Future Luna appearance melting into a seductive charm. She rested both hands on Julian’s shoulders and gave him a gentle push, forcing him back onto the bed.

“Didn’t you smell it when I came in? The laced perfume. When do you think?”

Julian stumbled and fell onto the bed, his head swimming.

“The mate I am bound to is Chloe Bennett. If you do this, once I announce her to the pack, you’ll become a target for everyone’s ridicule.”

Serena let out a cold snort, her tone mocking.

‘Announce her? Once I’m pregnant and become the recognized Luna of the Blood Moon, do you really think she’ll have a chance to take her place back?

“A pathetic, low-class stray like her? It’s embarrassing to even think of an Omega like that sitting at the high table.”

As it turned out, Serena’s gentleness and understanding were all an act, put on only because that was what Julian needed for his public image. Deep down, she was still the high-and-mighty pureblood who despised anyone beneath her.

Her insults toward Chloe finally touched Julian’s raw nerve.

Julian forced himself to stay conscious, his fingers brushing against a fountain pen on the nightstand. He gritted his teeth and drove the pen deep into his thigh.

The sharp, sudden pain forced his mind to focus.

“Ah!”

Julian grabbed Serena by the throat and flung her onto the floor. He stumbled out of the room, heading straight for the study.

‘Chloe, where are you?”

‘Chloe!”

He staggered along, searching everywhere for her figure. Finally, Beta Carter appeared, carrying a bowl of spicy street food. He rushed over to steady him.

“Alpha, what’s wrong?”

Julian gripped Carter’s wrist for support, his voice desperate. “Where’s Chloe Bennett? Where is she?”

His lips parted in utter despair.
