I Regret Being Alpha’s Secret Mate novel Chapter 179

Chapter 162

Claim 10 Coins By Stark !!!

Lucian’s eyelids drooped, darkness in his eyes.

“Ragnar, it’s late. You should rest. Seren, see Ragnar off.” Calista, angered by Lucian, stood, avoiding his gaze.

Her brow furrowed; none of his words were heard.

“Okay.” We spoke simultaneously, exchanging a glance.

The air pressure around Lucian seemed to drop. I ignored him and stood to see Ragnar off.

Lucian watched us leave, his face cold and solemn, his eyes seeming to devour me.

The walk was silent. I waited until we reached his car.”Mr. Blackthorne, may I speak with you in the car?”

“Okay.” He helped me into the car, then joined me.

“Mr. Blackthorne, I want to make it clear to you again. I am not looking for a mate, not now. Calista was kind; and I couldn’t refuse.” I got straight to the point.”She misunderstood. When I said you were good, I meant you’d helped me and are a kind person.”

“Do you still love him?”

The car’s lights were off; only the light from Mooncrest Manor illuminated the car.

Ragnar’s face was half-hidden in shadow.

“I don’t love him,” I answered immediately, referring to Lucian.”I am not sure whether I can still love someone.” I didn’t even have the energy for revenge.

Ragnar spoke gently, “Since that’s the case, how about cooperating with me?”

“Cooperating?” I looked at him, confused.

He turned on the interior light. He wasn’t the smiling man from the living room; his gaze was distant and businesslike.

“You were unwilling to go on a blind date but couldn’t refuse Calista. You made it clear to her it wasn’t successful, but she’ll keep trying.”

This was my concern. I hadn’t found a solution to stop her without hurting her.

“And, as for me, the rumors… you must’ve heard them.” His voice was faint.

“I coughed lightly.

I’d heard the gossip about Ragnar.

He was Lucian’s age, the eldest grandson of Mr. Blackthornesenior, equally accomplished, but not interested in women.

Unlike Lucian, who’d openly dated Ayla in college, Ragnar had never been seen with a woman. Rumors claimed he preferred men.

The men around him were scrutinized; everyone speculated.

I hadn’t been curious before, but now, his mention sparked my interest.

I looked at him; my curiosity was evident.

“I don’t like men.” A touch of helplessness flickered in his eyes.

He looked at me kindly, “I have someone I’ve liked… for a long time.”

His gaze softened, giving me the illusion that he felt like me. But I realized I was wrong.
