I Regret Being Alpha’s Secret Mate novel Chapter 4

Chapter 4

In the past, I had endured everything in silence.

For the sake of a bond I thought was rare, I had thrown away my reputation and my innocence.

But Julian didn’t love me. Why should I keep trapping myself in this cage?

As I pushed the door open, I caught sight of Julian.

Our eyes met.

He saw how haggard and exhausted I looked, and his attitude softened slightly just a fraction.

“I’ll take care of the photos,” he said, his voice deep.

I gave a wordless smile.

By “handle,” he probably just meant burying the trending topics on the pack’s network, waiting for people to slowly forget this week’s gossip as time passed.

But what about me?

I would still be the shameless Omega in the shadows, wouldn’t I?

The insults and slander would still be there, like blade marks on my heart.

Scars that would never fade.

“If your idea of ‘handling it’ is just wiping the posts, save it. I’m going in there to set the record straight. I’m not some cheap social climber.”

“I’m going to prove my innocence!”

As soon as the words left my mouth, Julian lunged forward and grabbed my wrist.

The softness in his eyes was instantly replaced by a freezing frost.

“Chloe, we can’t go public yet. For once, can you just be reasonable? Stop making a scene!”

I stared back at him. “A scene? You’re letting them tear me apart, and you think I’m just acting out?”

My eyes were filled with more than just disbelief; they were overflowing with bitter grief.

So, he had never truly cared about my pain or my despair.

My scalp, which had only recently been bandaged after the attack by those she—wolves, began to throb. I trembled with the pain.

But Julian only frowned, his voice a cold command.

“No matter what, you have to wait a little longer!”

Immediately, several Enforcers swarmed me. They pinned my arms and forced me into his car.

I tried to struggle, wanting to escape this quicksand I was sinking into.

But I was one person against many.

An hour later, I was tossed onto the bed at his private estate.

Julian slammed the door with a deafening bang and turned the lock.

I instinctively tried to run, but he grabbed me and threw me back.
