I Stopped Loving Him When He Let Me Bleed Out novel Chapter 122

"So? Feel better?"

"A little."

"I saw the whole thing," Paxton chuckled. "Whether you feel satisfied or not, I certainly do. That Yolanda woman... we used to study under the same mentor. She was somewhat normal back then. But ever since she married into the Fletcher family and gave them two sons, she actually started thinking she was royalty. She changed completely, always putting on airs, trying to control and manipulate everything around her. I can't stand her."

Sienna remained silent.

She gazed at the old locust tree across the street, its leaves a vibrant, glossy green. Sunlight filtered through the branches, scattering like shattered glass on the pavement.

"Paxton."

"Yeah?"

"Thank you."

Paxton turned to look at her.

"For what?"

"For letting me stand here today," Sienna smiled. It was a faint smile, but it was genuine. "To be honest, I used to be terrified of her. But today, I realized she's just an ordinary person consumed by her own obsessions. I think I've finally moved past that mental block."

Paxton blinked in surprise, then laughed.

"I actually helped you get over a mental block? Maybe I should consider a career change to medicine," he paused, smirking. "Psychiatry, perhaps."

"Either way, I'm honored," Paxton said.

The two of them stepped off the porch, ready to leave.

"Boss! Boss!"

A waiter sprinted out of the bookstore, his face ghost-white.

"Something's wrong! That wealthy lady... she collapsed in the private room!"

Sienna stopped dead in her tracks.

Without a second thought, she spun around and sprinted back inside.

"Paxton, call an ambulance!" she yelled over her shoulder, her tone instantly slipping into a clinical calm. "And get a hold of her family."

Paxton pulled out his phone, scrolled to Finn Fletcher's number, and hit dial.

Sienna shoved the door to the private room open.

Yolanda was crumpled on the floor. Her complexion was an ashen gray, her lips were tinged blue, and her chest was heaving with rapid, shallow breaths.

Sienna dropped to her knees, immediately pressing her fingers against Yolanda's carotid artery.

The pulse was racing and erratic.

She gently peeled back Yolanda's eyelids; her pupils were sluggish to react to the light.

"Do we have a blood pressure monitor?" she demanded.

The waiter hovered by the door, trembling like a leaf.

"Y-yes... downstairs..."

"Go get it! Hurry!"

Sienna maneuvered Yolanda to lay flat on her back, swiftly unfastening the top two buttons of her dress to ensure her airway was clear.

"I said, move."

Paxton strode over, clamped a hand around Chloe's arm, and yanked her aside.

"Calm down. She's trying to save her life."

Chloe wrenched her arm out of his grip, her voice shrill.

"Save her?! She's a murderer! Mrs. Fletcher is in this state because of her! If it wasn't for her, she would never have..."

"Shut up!" Paxton snapped, clapping a hand over Chloe's mouth.

Using his height to his advantage, he practically dragged her out of the room.

Sienna knelt back down, continuously monitoring Yolanda's faltering vitals.

The ambulance finally arrived.

The paramedics rushed in with a stretcher, and Sienna helped them load Yolanda onto it.

As the ambulance doors slammed shut, Chloe stood near the bookstore entrance, trembling from head to toe as she watched the flashing lights speed away.

Paxton stood beside her in absolute silence.

"Are you happy now?" Chloe turned to him, her eyes bloodshot. "You teamed up with her to attack Mrs. Fletcher. Paxton, have you forgotten what my father did for you?"

Chloe's expression twisted into a vicious sneer.

"Do I need to remind you that if it wasn't for my dad, an orphaned kid like you wouldn't be where you are today? You're a disgusting, ungrateful parasite!"
