I Stopped Loving Him When He Let Me Bleed Out novel Chapter 127

Finn bolted to the elevators just as the metal doors slid shut.

He furiously hammered the call button. The light illuminated, but the doors remained stubbornly closed.

Unable to wait a second longer, he pivoted, shoved open the heavy fire doors, and vaulted down the stairwell, taking the steps three at a time.

His dress shoes slammed against the concrete, echoing like frantic drumbeats.

Only one thought consumed him: catch her, explain, and tell her he didn't mean a word of it.

Whatever frayed connection they had left could not survive another misunderstanding.

Ground floor lobby.

Finn burst out of the stairwell, his eyes scanning wildly.

No sign of Sienna.

He shouted her name, but his voice was instantly swallowed by the chaotic noise of the crowded hospital.

He bolted through the ER’s sliding glass doors, skidding to a halt on the front steps.

The sun was bright, and the April breeze carried the sweet, heavy scent of lilacs from the garden.

People milled about the flowerbeds—smoking, talking on their phones, waiting.

She wasn't there.

Finn stood frozen, clutching the hair tie so fiercely that the silver heart dug painfully into his palm. He didn't care about the pain; he refused to let go.

He hadn't caught her.

With trembling fingers, he pulled out his phone and opened her chat.

He held down the microphone and sent a desperate voice note:

"Sienna, are you still at the hospital? I need to talk to you. Please, just give me a minute, okay?"

His phone buzzed.

His heart leaped in his chest, praying it was her.

It wasn't.

It was a text from his older brother, Ford Fletcher.

"I just arrived at the hospital."

Finn pocketed his phone, turned around, and dragged himself back inside.

The elevator doors pinged open, and Ford stepped out.

Chloe was trailing right behind him.

She kept her head bowed, shrinking behind Ford like a child who had been caught misbehaving.

"Ford," Finn offered a stiff greeting.

Ford nodded smoothly.

"How's Mom?"

Finn had never once resented him for it.

But right now, looking at Ford's perfectly composed smile, something felt fundamentally wrong.

He couldn't pinpoint exactly what it was; it was just a visceral instinct.

"Ford, I want to transfer Mom to another hospital," Finn said quickly. "The private clinic uptown has much better security and facilities."

He knew their mother favored Ford. If he could get Ford to back the idea, she might actually agree to leave, which would get her far away from Sienna's workplace.

"Whatever you think is best," Ford smiled genially. "I have no objections."

Inside the suite.

Yolanda was propped up in bed. Her makeup was immaculate once more, her hair smoothed back into place, making her look far healthier than she actually was.

Grant sat on the leather sofa, scrolling through his phone, handling business.

Ford walked in and sat on the edge of the bed.

"Mom, how are you feeling?"

"I'm fine," Yolanda took his hand, her tone noticeably softer and warmer than when she had spoken to Finn. "Why did you come all this way? Aren't you busy at the office?"

"I'm never too busy for you," Ford smiled—a practiced, measured expression.

He glanced toward the door.

"I ran into Chloe downstairs, so we came up together."
