Paxton hadn't expected Sienna to be so brutally blunt. He nearly choked on his water.
He quickly wiped his mouth and shot her a massive thumbs-up.
"Badass."
"Wait, no," Finn protested, his face darkening. "Sienna, how could you..."
Sienna held up a hand, flashing him a 'stop right there' gesture.
"You don't need to say a word."
She masterfully steered the conversation back to the actual problem.
"What you need to be worrying about right now is whether Fletcher Corporation has any overlapping projects with the Beaumont family."
Finn looked at her, his eyes growing heavy.
"The development deal on the West Side. Sebastian is bidding on it too."
"Well, then you've got your work cut out for you," Sienna replied, throwing her hands up.
She was absolutely certain that Sasha would leverage this opportunity to hold Finn hostage.
After finishing their meal, the trio walked out of the restaurant.
Paxton turned to Sienna.
"Where are you crashing tonight?"
"I texted Autumn," Sienna replied. "There's an employee dorm at the bookstore. I'll bunk with her."
Paxton chuckled.
"Perfect. Then I won't worry about you." He hailed a cab and took off first.
"I'll drop you off at the bookstore."
Finn stood next to Sienna, the streetlights casting their long shadows onto the pavement, separated by only a sliver of space.
"I already ordered a ride." Sienna held up her phone.
Right on cue, a rideshare pulled up to the curb.
She opened the door and climbed in.
The taillights flashed at the intersection before the car rounded the corner and disappeared into the night.
Finn stood rooted to the spot, his shadow stretching endlessly under the glowing streetlamps.
At the Beaumont estate.
Sebastian parked the car and hurried around to the back to help Sasha out.
